Job Title: Young 5s Kindergarten Teacher
Location: Nottawa Michigan
Position Type: FullTime
Reports To: Building Principal

Position Overview

Nottawa Community School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Young 5s Kindergarten Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of early childhood development and a passion for creating a nurturing playbased learning environment. This role involves implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and instructional strategies that support the academic social and emotional growth of young learners preparing them for a successful transition into kindergarten and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Implementation: Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with Michigans Early Childhood Standards of Quality and districtapproved curricula.
  • Instructional Strategies: Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs including individualized and smallgroup instruction.
  • Classroom Environment: Establish and maintain a safe inclusive and positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and respect.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records and communicate findings with parents and staff.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues support staff and administration to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.
  • Parental Engagement: Foster strong relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication conferences and involvement in classroom activities.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional learning opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education.

  • Certification:Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements (e.g. ZS ZA ZG or ZK).
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with young learners in early childhood or
  • Kindergarten settings.
  • Skills:Strong knowledge of child development and early learning best practices.
  • Effective classroom management strategies tailored to young children.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration communication and buildingrelationships with students and families.

Preferred:

Experience: Five or more years of experience teaching in early childhood or Kindergarten settings.
Additional Skills:

  • Experience supporting diverse learners including students with IEPs or English Language Learners.
  • Familiarity with playbased and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
  • Willingness to engage in schoolwide activities and collaborate across grade levels.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and salary schedule per NEA/MEA collective bargaining agreement.
