Stipend Opportunity: Assistant ESY Director (AD) for ESY
Boston Public Schools seeks dedicated special education professionals to serve as Assistant ESY Directors (ADs) for our Extended School Year (ESY) program. In this role the ESY AD will provide administrative support to site coordinators ensuring the smooth operation of ESY sites and directly supporting the programs mission to deliver highquality services to students with disabilities. Assignments will include responsibilities for multiple ESY sites and from the Director of ESY.
The Extended School Year (ESY) program serves students with disabilities addressing individualized educational goals as recommended by their IEP Teams. The ESY AD role is essential to ESYs success providing operational and strategic oversight.
This opportunity reports to the Chief of Specialized Services or designee and collaborates closely with the Director of ESY and ESY Site Coordinators.
This opportunity requires travel to different ESY events and between locations.
Responsibilities:
- PreProgram Site Preparation
- Work with site coordinators prior to ESY start to ensure each site is prepared
- Attend entirety of open house events to facilitate introductions and address early concerns
- Develop and lead ESY site professional development sessions in collaboration with the Director of ESY.
- Daily Site Support
- Be accessible and present for ESY daytoday operations at assigned sites ensuring each location meets program standards and operates effectively
- Provide consistent assigned support to approximately 12 site coordinators assisting with operational needs program implementation and troubleshooting as needed including liaising with central offices including Curriculum Facilities Transportation OHR OLR Safety Services and the Operation Leaders.
- Coordinate emergencies/incidents responses with Site Coordinators Operational Leaders Director of ESY and other emergency services. Emergencies/incidents include student/participant AND staffing challenges.
- Remain accessible to assist with any additional issues or adjustments as they arise ensuring a responsive approach to program needs.
- Support IMs family and caregiver communication especially with serious and emergency situations
- Program Close Down
- Remain active in closing down sites monitoring progress reporting standards were met and performing close down activities as assigned by the Director of ESY including ensuring schools are clean orderly and ESY materials are returned to storage
Terms:
- The stipend position duration is flexible depending on staff availability between 5/5/2025 to 8/31/2025.
- 5/5/2025 7/6/2025: Scheduled/AdHoc requirements: Weekly Pay: $500
- 7/7/2025 8/8/2025: Weekly Pay: $2500
- 8/9/2025 8/29/2025: AdHoc requirements: Weekly Pay: $500
- BASAS: In accordance with the S6500 Guidance Memorandum no activities performed under this stipend opportunity can count towards S6500 days and BASAS employees must be on track to complete their S6500 days.
- BTU: No activities under this stipend opportunity can count towards Schedule A days and BTU employees must be on track to complete their Schedule A days.
Qualifications Required:
- Masters Degree in a related field
- MA DESE or Board of Registration Licensure in Special Education
- MA DESE Licensure in Supervision or Administration or in progress
- Three (3) years experience teaching or providing services in urban special education or related field
- Adept at communicating (written and verbally) with a wide variety of stakeholders including but not limited to: BPS colleagues parents and students
- Demonstrated knowledge of special education regulations and best practices
- Current authorization to work in the United States Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment
