Description

As part of the Behavioral Health clinician team under the supervision of the BH Supervising LCSW the Mental Health Advocate will provide individual psychotherapy group treatment short term therapy and perform intake assessment evaluations within a multidisciplinary team. Clinician will work with substance abuse treatment program to provide comprehensive services to clients with substance abuse issues and mental illness. The clinician will consult with BH Programs Manager and BH Director regarding case management substance use disorder.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists in the planning organizing and implementing of specialized mental health drug and alcohol services for the dually diagnosed.
  2. Complete a risk assessment and environmental screen on intake.
  3. Conducts individual and group counseling sessions with program clients.
  4. Facilitates alcohol and drug treatment groups for mentally ill clients.
  5. Prepares and administers individual recovery plans with program clients with the support and assistance of other professional staff.
  6. Performs client intake and discharge procedures. Also performs crisis intervention services.
  7. Develops and maintains communications between the department and community agencies.
  8. Collects and records pertinent social data on program clients.
  9. Work cooperatively as a member of the program team. Participate in team meetings and agency functions. Participate in the development implementation and evaluation of services provided.
  10. Maintain uptodate client records. Complete all necessary file notes reports and other written documentation on a timely basis and in accordance with agency standards. Compile statistics of patients accessing and requesting services.
  11. Participate in professional development activities to maintain competency in field of practice or area(s) of expertise.
  12. Work in compliance with all health and safety policies procedures and guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. A masters degree in social work Psychology Counseling or Marriage Family Therapy.
  2. Hold & maintain current valid & unrestricted Licensed Clinical Social Worker
    (LCSW) professional license or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) professional license with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  3. Knowledge of theory and treatment practices of intrapsychic interpersonal and social problems; community mental health; alcohol and other drug abuse interventions; and community agencies and resources that assist with physical and emotional wellness.
  4. Proficiency in using various computer programs such as Microsoft Word Outlook Teams Excel electronic health records systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of current valid and unrestricted LCSW license LMFT license with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Understanding of case management techniques in community health care setting.
  • Ability to work with clients families and staff in a caring and respectful manner and with due understanding of and consideration for cultural differences.
  • Ability to develop evaluates implement and modify a treatment plan meeting all deadlines and productivity standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with staff and coworkers clients families and the public.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and timely documentation reports and other written material as assigned using computer and computer software assigned.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to internal and external laws rules and policies.
  • Ability to secure the cooperation of and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work independently and to conform to all applicable safety and accountability measures.
  • Understanding of California mandated reporting laws.
