Software Development Engineer II, Network Expansion System and Tools (NEST)

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. As a Software Development Engineer at AWS you are driving a wave of innovation and bringing sweeping changes to the way we manage our networks. You are developing software that allows us to build the most reliable available and self healing network in the world. On a daily basis you work closely with your teammates and surrounding teams to bring adaptive and creative solutions to operational and business goals. The AWS network is composed of millions of heterogeneous network devices all of which need to be managed in a consistent manner abstracted away from platformspecific differences and reduced in complexity for our customers. The NEST team has an exciting charter to provide scalable platform services for building authoritative data services for the Amazon Network. We are the primary source of network link state data and our team offers a set of services and APIs which work in tandem to share this authoritative view with the core services needed to run the AWS network.

Key job responsibilities
Collaborate with experienced crossdisciplinary Amazonians to conceive design and bring innovative products and services to market.
Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.
Build distributed storage index and query systems that are scalable faulttolerant low cost and easy to manage/use.
Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
Work in an agile environment to deliver highquality software.

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language

3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
