Flourish Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Clinician to take on a clinical lead role within a multidisciplinary residential service!

The position available is:

  • Fulltime (76 hours/fortnight)
  • Parttime hours will also be considered and negotiable
  • Working Monday Friday
  • This position offers an attractive annual salary between$90K $110Kcommensurate with qualifications and experience

About the Location

The HASI Plus program supports people inTamworth and the Hunter area. This is an independent role where you will be responsible for managing your own time. The role will require some travel to both areas however will be based inTamworth.

Relocation assistancewill also be considered for the right applicant.

About the Opportunity

The role of the Mental Health Clinician with HASI Plus is a lead clinical role across the New England and Hunter area with one of Australias leading providers of comprehensive mental health support Plus is a collaborative residential support program delivered by Flourish Australia & the Hunter New England LHD.

HASI Plus provides residential support to people with severe and persistent mental health issues & complex needs. This is achieved through effective collaboration with people we support their families or carers Flourish Australia staff NSW Health and various other Mental Health Clinician will play a vital role in supporting participants providing clinical advice liaising with statewide health agencies to promote our services developing and implementing inhouse training as well as maintaining professional relationships across the local health district and allied health industry.

The key tasks and responsibilities will include but is not limited to:

  • Plan and coordinate clinical services relating to people accessing HASI Plus.
  • Provide clinical support direction and education to other staff as required.
  • Analyze and report on HASI Plus Clinical supports performance across designated areas.
  • Develop and implement persondriven recoveryfocused assessments therapies and support plans to promote an individuals independence opportunities and choices.
  • Work in close cooperation with the Local Health District Mental Health Clinician to jointly plan clinical care and rehabilitation for the people accessing our service.
  • Meet all policy contractual and legislative requirements and ultimately achieve good outcomes for the people who access HASI Plus.
  • Ensure positive ongoing and productive communication between Flourish Australia the HNE LHD and any relevant stakeholder/funding body as required
  • Ensure that all engagement assessments and support planning with people who access our services are recoveryfocussed least restrictive culturally appropriate and accessible to the individual.
  • Actively participate in relevant clinical activities including direct support assessment and support planning case conferences and reviews.
  • Provide psychoeducation and training to people who access our services their family members and/or carers relevant stakeholders and staff members to ensure appropriate supports and to reduce ignorancerelated stigma of mental health issues.
  • Utilise allied health qualifications and experience to enhance the service offering across Tamworth and Newcastle sites
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Flourish to provide clinical advice and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Engage statewide local health district representatives to promote services and generate referral

About You

The Mental Health Clinician with HASI Plus will design and facilitate proactive persondirected interventions to enhance the individuals understanding of their mental health issues promote their self determination choices and resilience and develop opportunities for community integration and citizenship. An ideal candidate would:

  • Be able to work independently demonstrate initiative and take a clinical lead role
  • Have a highlevel understanding of clinical mental health interventions and outcomes
  • Build and maintain strong working partnerships in the community with other allied health professionals to provide choice to people accessing the service
  • Apply advanced working knowledge of person led recovery practices
  • Provide capacity building through psychoeducation and training to nonclinical staff

Please note Successful candidates must maintain a Class C drivers license and proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You may be directed to use your private motor vehicle in the course of performing your duties when anorganisational pool motorvehicle is will receive the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

    1. Relevant tertiary qualification in psychology nursing social work or occupational therapy.
    2. Specialist mental health skills and experience working in a clinical setting.
    3. Maintain current unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
    4. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and expert knowledge of data information management systems.
    5. Ability to assess performance deficiencies and invoke reasonable effective and supportive programs for improvement
    6. Advanced understanding and demonstrated application of recoveryoriented services
    7. Maintain a current Australian Drivers Licence

Desirable:

    1. A personal lived experience of a mental health issue.
    2. Demonstratedunderstandingofthechallengesfacedbypeoplewithalivedexperienceofsevereandpersistent mental health issues and how providing a recoveryoriented service is of benefit to people.
    3. Experience working in Aboriginal communities and with other diverse groups
