The role of the Account Manager is to envision enable and ensure strong market relationships and engagement strategies that support NEEAs market transformation goals. The Account Manager brings extensive expertise in the supply chain regarding market dynamics structure and trends and provides specialty with one or more supply chain actor audiences. This position develops strengthens and leverages key relationships with market partners and is responsible for providing marketinformed recommendations to Market Transformation Program and Product Managers with the objective of driving sustained market adoption of energyefficient products and practices. The supply chain actor assignments for this position are Distributors & Manufacturers Representatives (or Suppliers).
The Account Manager is skilled in the Distributor and Manufacturer Representatives (Supplier) ecosystem gathering intelligence on the market trends competition decision maker insights the latest technologies and the general macroeconomic trends. This position will lead the development of information and data share agreements between NEEA and its market partners. Then using that information and data they will work closely with NEEA leadership and across program and product teams to organize and articulate the intelligence into actionable market opportunities that accelerate Market Transformation initiatives.
This position is based in the Portland OR metro area with a hybrid work location. We are looking for candidates who can meet the requirement of working at least 2 days per week onsite at NEEAs office location. Finalists must have eligibility to work in the US as NEEA is not able to provide VISA sponsorship or have remote work outside of the US.
Salary range: $95000 $110000 exempt
Salary is based on the applicants Experience Knowledge Skills and Abilities.
Build and maintain longterm strategic partnerships with key regional and national market participants to advance NEEAs nearterm and longterm market transformation objectives.
Consistently and effectively leverage relationships to monitor external environmental trends and developments to proactively inform NEEAs portfolio product group and program strategies.
Lead the development of agreements with market partners to enable information and data sharing between NEEA and market partners.
Act as a strategic advisor to program and product teams regarding market dynamics structure and trends.
Continuously consult with program and product teams to establish interventions and value propositions that resonate with supply chain and other market partners and lead the delivery of information and insights to the partners.
Perform positioning and market analyses and assess current partner relationships to identify the most promising opportunities for influence.
Support the Market Transformation Managers and program teams in understanding market partner business drivers and developing compelling value propositions to secure their participation in NEEAs Market Transformation efforts.
Collaborate on research projects with Market Research and Evaluation and Market Intelligence teams to fill critical gaps in market knowledge; interpret and communicate research findings and insights internally and with partnering organizations.
Advise and partner with NEEA Market Transformation Managers to develop market engagement plans for NEEAs product group strategies ensuring economies of scale and coordination opportunities across product groups programs and projects.
Collaborate and partner with program teams during annual Operations Planning stage gate reviews and program strategy work sessions in consideration of new barriers and/or intervention opportunities to inform strategic and tactical channel engagement and marketing approaches.
Engage with Program Managers and marketing team members in developing strategic marketing plans and as necessary the execution of marketing strategies by internal marketing staff or vendors.
Develop and lead strategic initiatives or channel infrastructure including guiding strategy work plans annual resource plans and budgets as applicable and assigned.
Perform other duties which may be necessary or desirable to support the organizations success.
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities over NEEA staff. This position may be responsible for supervising and managing contractors. The incumbent provides leadership direction and guidance to his or her teams and contractors and provides assistance to management in achieving work group success.
Account Management Skills: Proven ability to identify develop and maintain strategic relationships with supply chain partners and related market actors. Proven ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities including negotiate contracts and pricing with accounts. Adept at monitoring partner accounts and ensuring account satisfaction.
Marketing Skills: Knowledge in fundamentals of marketing including business models drivers and trends. Ability to identify research needs to address questions about markets. Ability to incorporate visionary and outside the box ideas within marketing program design implementation and management. Strong negotiating skills and ability to influence partners in nontraditional ways.
Strategic Planning Skills: Experienced in researching assessing mapping and implementing strategic plans. Ability to translate market trends research and business results into broad marketing strategy that delivers solutions for meeting program goals while delivering on customer and partner satisfaction.
Customer Service Skills: Adept at managing difficult or sensitive stakeholder situations with little supervision. Responds promptly to stakeholder needs using superb interpersonal communications and relationshipbuilding skills. Solicits feedback to improve service and responds to requests for assistance. Diplomatically leads groups with divergent views towards a productive outcome. Exhibits enthusiasm about meeting with stakeholders market partners and industry actors.
Communication Skills: Possesses exceptional communication skills with the ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Listens and gets clarification and responds well to questions. Presents information and data effectively and demonstrates excellent group presentation skills. Ability to vary communication style to meet needs of different audiences.

Business Acumen: Solid understanding of business processes in a matrixed organization. Can understand and apply NEEAs market transformation discipline. Understanding of or aptitude to learn the energy utility and/or energy efficiency industries and the implications of decisions and messaging; Demonstration of both business/market planning and implementation skills; Ability to align work with strategic goals and anticipate obstacles and opportunities while maintaining a longterm big picture view.
Planning/Organizing Skills: Understands how to prioritize and plan work activities while remaining flexible and enthusiastic about supporting the team. Conducts oneself as a wellorganized selfstarter with the ability to multitask and be proactive in a complex environment. Demonstrates a can do attitude.
Business Technology: Intermediate level of expertise with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with the Google suite of tools and website content management systems.
Leadership and Team Building Skills:Ability to effectively collaborate within a high functioning cross functional team to develop strategic market interventions; proven success as a team builder team player and a leader as required; strong interpersonal and judgment skills required to influence internal and external teams to implement plans and meet deadlines; ability to energize people and teams and drive crossfunctional cooperation.
BA or BS degree in marketing business engineering or related field required.
7 years of experience with increasing responsibility in strategic marketing or market development for broad strategic markets.
Strong direct experience working with assigned supply chain actors.
Familiarity and experience working with emerging technology innovation strategic marketing/planning and/or product development/management specifically identifying and developing strategies to advance new products into the market in coordinated strategic fashion.
Experience developing implementing and managing business partnerships/corporate engagement strategies preferably with experience working with the supply chains of manufacturers retailers distributors and trade allies.
Demonstrated ability to independently influence and navigate through challenging or politically sensitive issues to achieve product group and program outcomes. Ability to anticipate and resolve issues with minimal involvement from manager.
Ability to consistently and effectively leverage relationships to monitor external environmental trends and developments to proactively identify and implement changes to product group strategy.
Experience with marketing communications and its integration. (collateral digital PR web social marketing video events awards media behavior change etc.).
Experience with consumer facing or businesstobusiness marketing and market research.
Experience developing and negotiating business agreements including agreements pertaining to information and/or data sharing is preferred.
Experience working in crossfunctional teams with ability to lead influence and sell a vision and strategy without formal authority.
Demonstrated experience in creating strategic and tactical plans managing financial plans and budgets and in the selection and management of contractors.
Knowledge of energy efficiency electric utility business and operations and/or Northwest energy markets preferred.
An equivalent combination of education experience and training that would provide the knowledge skills and abilities required for the successful performance of the essential job duties will also be considered.
