APM Terminals

Location:Algeciras Spain
Department:Legal & Compliance
Reports to:Terminal Management

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experiencedLegal Counselto provide strategic legal support to our terminal operations in Algeciras. This role is pivotal in ensuring legal and regulatory compliance managing claims and insurance matters and supporting the terminals operational and commercial activities.

Key Responsibilities

Claims & Disputes

  • Manage material claims and coordinate with insurers.
  • Maintain documentation and databases for audits and compliance.
  • Handle liability claims (e.g. employee vehicle claims approx. 70 vehicles).
  • Manage disputes with third parties (e.g. external truck damage 34 cases/year).
  • Oversee property claims and update asset loss data in internal systems.

Legal Advisory & Compliance

  • Advise terminal management on local laws statutory obligations and regulatory frameworks.
  • Represent the terminal in legal and regulatory hearings.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and government bodies.
  • Lead legal matters related to real estate and port concessions.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and manage operational permitting.
  • Draft review and negotiate contracts with suppliers contractors and port authorities.
  • Coordinate tender processes and contractual negotiations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Conduct legal risk assessments and provide practical solutionoriented advice.
  • Deliver internal legal training across business functions.

Candidate Profile

  • University degree in Spanish Law (or equivalent).
  • Minimum7 years of legal experience ideally in ports infrastructure or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge ofcorporate regulatory and commercial law.
  • Proven experience incontract drafting and negotiation.
  • Familiarity withpublic administration legal processes.
  • Analytical thinker with excellent communication skills.
  • Resultsdriven and proactive in problemsolving.
