Department: Facilities Management
Reports to: Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Wage range: $37.33 $38.16 (start rate in accordance with collective agreement requirements) 
Shift: Monday Friday ()
Status: Permanent Full Time

Duties

  • Maintaining/repairing designated fans pumps air compressors hospital equipment and other mechanical machinery to ensure effective operation; operating hand and power tools (e.g. lathes grinders) to fabricate parts required during maintenance repair etc
  • Installing mechanical items
  • Communicating with clients regarding required downtime
  • Setting up and maintaining machine tools and the machine shop
  • Contributing to the maintenance of inventory levels
  • Working in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations reporting hazards deficiencies and contraventions of the Act in a timely manner.

Qualifications :

  • At minimum completion of high school plus Millwright Apprenticeship Program or recognized equivalent
  • 7040 hrs onthejob training and 8 weeks (240 hours) of technical training in class each year for four years
  • Possession of the provincial Certificate of Qualifications
  • Understands verbal work orders and/or instructions
  • Ability to read and understand short notes forms instructions memos and/or letters
  • Ability to read and understand materials such as detailed operating/procedure manuals diagrams blueprints etc
  • Good eye/hand coordination
  • Ability to estimate and measure sizes and distances accurately
  • Ability to work independently at tasks that require concentration
  • Ability to maintain/repair equipment/instruments including grinding welding and metal threading machine parts
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multitask
  • Effective organizational interpersonal and communication skills
  • Client service oriented with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job:
    • able to lift 11 kg to 20 kg pushing or pulling heavy equipment reaching forward reaching above and below the shoulders using machinery or equipment that requires very controlled movement;
    • large movements requiring strength and coordination.
  • May be required to work at multiple sites as well as rotating shifts
