Reporting to the Transport Manager the Transport/Driver Controller will effectively maintain the transport operation and day to day business whilst observing company process and procedures within the Transport operate and deliver the transport service based on the plan liaison and key point of contact for all daytoday transport activities.
Salary: 37000 per annum.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off days 05.0016.15
Key Duties of a Transport Controller:
- Follow and adhere to the Transport Plan daily adapting and making changes to suit the business needs.
- Collect data and maintain transport information and data as required by operation.
- Accurate and timely updating of transport information within the transport management system.
- Liaising daily with personnel across the operation (Drivers & Transport Manager).
- When required brief and debrief Drivers at the start and end of shift ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
- Collate PODs and check discrepancies manage paperwork queries with Customer Service.
- Liaise with Customer regarding delivery issues.
- Adhere to legal compliance and company procedure regarding any defects services NCTs etc.
- Maintaining clear and effective communication with drivers communicating accurate start times additional shifts etc.
- Maintaining good morale reporting any drivers issues or concerns to management. In turn communicating any operational changes that may affect a drivers daily duties.
- Ensuring adherence to all statutory and legal requirements adhering to all health & safety/safe systems of work.
- Proactively escalates any potential service issue to both immediate management and to the customer.
- When required to ensure flexibility within the department to cover colleagues tasks during times of holidays & absence.
- Direct the daily activity to ensure a safe secure clean and fair work environment for team members.
- Occasionally assisting Transport Manager with compliance with company and local statutory. obligations regarding working time legislation operator licensing Health & Safety and quality.

Qualifications :
- Previous experience within a similar role within a Transport and Logistics environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge & experience of tachograph / driving rules and regulations
- Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
- Planning and organising skills.
- The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines.
- Customer service driven.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages.
- Be professional approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
