Civil/Structural Engineer EPC Contractor (Utility & Industrial Infrastructure)
Location: Paramus NJ
Travel: Approximately 20% to subcontractor offices and project sites

Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Civil/Structural Engineer to join an inhouse engineering team supporting the design and execution of utility and industrial infrastructure projects including substations power generation facilities industrial process plants and renewable fuel developments. This is a key engineering role within a fully integrated Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor known for managing complex highvalue infrastructure projects from concept through completion.

Primary Function:
The Civil/Structural Engineer will be responsible for leading and overseeing civil and structural engineering efforts throughout all project phasesfrom early development and frontend loading (FEL) to detailed design. This includes managing engineering subcontractors ensuring adherence to codes and standards and supporting both permitting and value engineering activities. The successful candidate will bring extensive technical experience and project leadership capabilities to ensure highquality costeffective and constructible designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractor civil/structural engineering efforts; monitor deliverables and resolve design issues in alignment with contract requirements.
  • Review engineering documentation for completeness value engineering opportunities and constructability.
  • Analyze geotechnical and subsurface investigation reports and support permitting requirements such as SWPPP.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and project teams to manage engineering scope schedule and budgets.
  • Lead review of foundation structural and building designs including drawings specifications and material selections.
  • Apply IBC ASCE AISC and ACI standards in the evaluation of steel and concrete structural systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate construction materials and systems including modular/offsite solutions.
  • Participate in client and subcontractor meetings; lead civil/structural design review sessions.
  • Prepare preliminary design documents technical reports and drawings in support of bid and proposal efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in civil/structural engineering for utility power generation or industrial process facilities.
  • Proven track record in leading design efforts for largescale complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical expertise in site development drainage foundations and above/below ground structures.
  • Solid knowledge of geotechnical principles piling systems and temporary construction support systems.
  • Familiarity with construction permitting and development of design criteria documents.
  • Effective leadership communication and collaboration skills for crossdisciplinary and clientfacing work.
  • Proficiency in applying relevant building codes and engineering standards.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred but not required.
