Pay: $20.76 per hour
How the Internship Works:
- This is a 12week Summer Internship program for undergrad sophomore juniors seniors or grad students currently attending an accredited college or university.
- Interns work within various facets of their department to get a good understanding of the services provided and to gain handson experience accompanied by various subject matter experts.
- There are ample opportunities to attend information sessions and learn more about the company.
- Interns are assigned mentors that provide guidance development opportunities projects and valuable feedback.
- Internships are onsite with no remote work opportunities and all interns must be within a commutable distance from the office. At this time we do not provide housing or relocation assistance for the program.
- Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned.
Summary
The Environmental Lab Interns main responsibility is to perform routine operations within a laboratory setting by supporting and facilitating daily laboratory operations in the Organics Extraction Lab. Additionally they will work with their mentor on learning various analyses following documented operating procedures for sample and data processing and recording notes. Depending on interest and ability the intern may participate in sample preparation and analysis instrument maintenance and projects related to their scientific interests. Support work may include cleaning glassware logging in samples and weighing out samples.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all samples received by the laboratory are logged in according to the appropriate procedure including labeling logging and reviewing.
- Maintain a clean and organized lab space.
- Prepares general laboratory operations including preparation and analysis of samples.
- Performs routine daily weekly and monthly maintenance of laboratory instruments and workspace.
- Documents work performed in accordance with established protocols compiles analysis data into lab reports.
- Perform a specific analysis or portion of analysis at the direction of the Laboratory Manager.
- Clean and maintain equipment and glassware.
- Report nonconformances to the QAM and Laboratory Manager.
- Performs other jobrelated duties and projects as assigned.
Eligibility
Required Education Qualifications:
- Fulltime student currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry or related field from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative GPA: 2.8 or higher
- Current status: Sophomore or above
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- General familiarity with chemistry laboratory operations and laboratory safety.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read count and write to accurately complete all documentation.
- Professional behavior and appearance.
- Ability to be organized and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
