Job Summary
The Center for Science & Mathematics Education ( CSME ) empowers students from all backgrounds to achieve success in science and math. The Education Director will oversee CSME programming and communications support CSME staff and be the primary liaison with the College of Science Deans office. This work will involve overseeing operations and strategic planning of CSME functions in collaboration with a CSME Advisory Board as well as faculty and staff in the College of Science. The Education Director will report to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs. Experience in math and science education and/or educational leadership is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for CSME programming operations and communications by setting short and longterm goals estimating budgetary requirements for staff space and equipment planning and implementing special projects and policies. Routinely collaborate with the College of Science engage in problem solving to manage programs and services make spending decisions oversee program development and ensure that policies and procedures are followed. Provide direction and oversight for various CSME efforts including the Learning Assistant program ( ) as well as other student and faculty support and engagement programs. Market and promote new and existing programs and services to internal and external stakeholders; activities may include managing overall CSME website and generating website content managing and producing enewsletters producing print materials leading CSME reporting giving CSME related presentations etc. Maintain careful accounting of program impacts. May engage in supporting and/or facilitating research activities surrounding CSME programs including IRB preparation data analysis grant preparation etc. Facilitate cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships; may participate in universitywide committees to establish plans and policies. Solicit feedback and analyze complaints concerns and suggestions from stakeholders including faculty instructors administrators and students and provide appropriate followthrough to ensure stakeholder satisfaction. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership human relations and effective communications skills required.
