Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties to support accurate financial reporting and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This position plays a key role in the daytoday accounting operations related to property management real estate development and corporate financials.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and record journal entries accruals and intercompany transactions.
Reconcile bank accounts credit cards and general ledger accounts monthly.
Assist with monthend and yearend close processes.
Maintain and update propertylevel financial statements.
Track and record accounts payable/receivable tenant billing and rent collections.
Review lease agreements for financial implications and ensure proper accounting treatment.
Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
Support audits and tax preparation by gathering documentation and reports.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Collaborate with property managers and other departments to resolve financial discrepancies.
Participate in the implementation and improvement of accounting systems and processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
13 years of accounting experience preferably in real estate or property management.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Yardi MRI QuickBooks or similar real estate platforms).
Strong Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables VLOOKUP formulas).
Understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
High level of accuracy attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Yardi or MRI software.
CPA or working toward certification is a plus.
Familiarity with real estate investment structures (e.g. partnerships REITs).
