Position Summary:
A Polysomnographic Trainee develops competency in and performs basic sleep testing procedures and associated interventions. The sleep trainee works under direct supervision of a sleep technician or technologist.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required: High school diploma or GED plus six months of direct patient care experience or one year of postsecondary education (minimum 2 semesters of college).
OR
Current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology.
OR
Possession of another healthcare credential/license.
AND
Enrollment in and completion of program or ASTEP course and advancement to technician level within 18 months of hire.
Completion of or enrollment in an ASTEP program or equivalent within 18 months of hire.
CPR/BLS
Preferred: ACLS PALS Member of a professional organization associated with sleep medicine such as the American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST) or American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).
