Job Description

JOB DEFINITION:

Billing Specialist I primary responsibilities are Account Receivable followup investigate analyze appeal and resolve any denied or unpaid insurance claims.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

2 years experience performing Account Receivable followup in a Healthcare setting.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Solid Knowledge and understanding of Billing Concepts ICD10 Medical Terminology Behavioral Health Billing and Electronic Medical Records. Ability to read and understand EOBs.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and Word.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitor Aging Reports (AR) and perform extensive and timely account followup activities. To investigate analyze appeal and resolve any denied insurance claims.
  2. Routinely contacts insurance companies to followup unpaid claims. In addition utilizes Insurance Portals to pull or review EOBs.
  3. Complete all levels of appeals adhering to payer specific appeal requirements.
  4. Analyze Denial reasons identify trends to avoid future denials.
  5. Run Insurance Verification/Eligibility
  6. Collect and Review referrals/Authorizations.
  7. Review all client/patient information to make sure it matches whats in the Billing System before submitting claim to insurance companies.
  8. Prepare/submit billing data and claims to insurance companies through our Billing Systems (IMA/Carelogic).
  9. Review and Process Rejected claims.
  10. Post Payments and process remittances.
  11. Effective communication with clients and staff t resolve billing inquiries and issues.
  12. Identify and implement quality improvement trainings and activities as part of professional development goals

  14. Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed.

  16. Adherence to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by following established safety guidelines.

  18. Be able to attend Agency functions on site included but not limited to Agency fundraising events and Staff Day.
  19. Other duties as assigned.
