Ohio Military Veteran Educators Program Administrator (Admin Staff)

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a graduate degree and:

• 5 years ofEducational Administrative Experience
• Minimum 2 years experience in K12 education in a licensed position.

OR

Completion of an undergraduate degree; and

• 7 years ofEducational Administrative Experience
• Minimum 4 years experience in K12 education in a licensed position.

Additional Preferred Qualifications: Officer or Noncommissioned Officer (if separated honorable discharge required) or demonstrated experience working with the military military members military families.

This is a fulltime temporary position with an end date of June 30 2027.

The work location of this position is 25 South Front Street Columbus Ohio 43215. You will be required to report to this work location fulltime if selected.

If this position is filled with an internal employee who has an approved telework agreement the employee may be required to report inperson during the initial training period.

What Youll Do:

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) seeks a talented individual with teaching and educational administrative leadership experience to recruit counsel and support current and former military members and spouses transitioning into a new career as a:

• Licensed educator e.g. teacher administrator pupil services professional; or
• Classified educator e.g. bus driver building maintenance worker food service worker office staff mechanic dispatcher.

The Ohio Military Veteran Educators Program is intended to increase the Ohio Educator Pipeline at all levels by recruiting and implementing specific programming to meet the needs of Ohio Military Veterans Transitioning service members and their spouses.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Serves as an unclassified employee pursuant to Section 124.11 (A) (30) O.R.C. and performs the following duties:

Under the direction of office leadership in the Office of Educator Talent and Leadership directs and implements the Ohio Military Veteran Educators Program (Ohio MVEP):

• Develops agencywide programming systems and protocols for the Ohio MVEP;
• Formulates and drafts rules and guidelines pertaining to policies for the OHIO MVEP and other related initiatives;
• Establishes procedures/guidelines for monitoring and compliance;
• Develops partnerships between stakeholder groups (higher education veterans associations school districts purplestar schools and state agencies);
• Administer a grant program as created through legislation for higher education institutions:
  • Develops and manages grant allocations which may include competitive and noncompetitive iterations;
  • Develops and manages the competitive grant application process including coordination with intraagency offices and contractors;
  • Create and maintain grant technical and program;
  • Oversees subrecipient monitoring to include development and implementation of policies and procedures for monitoring guidelines;
  • Evaluates implementation efforts of program and recommends improvements;
  • Establishes data collection and reporting process for the grant awardees;
  • Analyzes data to provide improvement recommendations to internal and external entities;
• Creates grant opportunities for higher education institutions as created by legislation (e.g. reimbursements fellowships);
• Develops project proposals & program plans;
• Provides technical advice to aid administrators in decision making;
• Develops quarterly and annual Ohio MVEP reports;
• Manages data to document program participation;
• Serves as the point of contact for the Ohio MVEP program;
• Serves as Ohio MVEP liaison to the ODVS Ohio military bases and all Ohio active military and veterans support organizations;
• Advocates for veterans transitioning military personnel and their spouses seeking careers in public education;
• Collects and distributes relevant information pertaining to licensure careers in education financial incentives tuition assistance G.I. Bill benefits and teacher loan forgiveness programs;
• Represents the Ohio MVEP in inter and intra office collaboration:
• Plans and conducts onsite visits throughout the state;
• Supports and coordinates Troops to Teachers (TTT) transition;
• Represents DEW at veterans and military events as requested;
• Collaborate with ODVS to expand participation in Ohio MVEP;
• Reviews state and federal laws best practices and educational data and research.

Requires travel throughout the State of Ohio and may require overnight and weekend stay. Position requires weekend and evening availability as dictated by the need for an Ohio MVEP designee at military and veterans events.

Must be willing and able to secure a valid drivers license OR supply your own transportation. Requires travel within the geographic boundaries of the United States as directed by the program office.

The final applicant for this position will be required to submit urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to an appointment.
