Established in 1970 Serving Seniors helps San Diego Countys lowincome seniors overcome poverty through wholeperson wraparound support including meals housing health and social services and enrichment activities. We work at numerous sites across the county and in the homes of hundreds of homebound seniors. Our flagship Gary & Mary West Senior Wellness Center in downtown San Diego is unlike any other senior center in the nation. Bringing together a range of supportive services under one roof the Senior Wellness Center operates 365 days a year and offers two floors of integrated care including health and social services housing navigation enrichment activities lifelong learning a Cyber Caf and linkage to over 25 onsite direct service partners including a senior dental center. Last fiscal year we provided over 1.1 million meals and coordinated services to over 10700 older adults.

Job Purpose

The Guest Services and Security Coordinator reports to the Facilities Manager and plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Wellness Center. As one of the first employees clients see when they enter the center this frontfacing position is essential in creating a positive first impression. The position also involves some janitorial duties as needed along with various facilitiesrelated tasks to support the overall maintenance and functionality of the center.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as one of the first employees clients see when they enter the center creating a positive first impression.
  • Control access to the facility through the admittance process assisting visitors with a legitimate need to enter the facility. Screen visitors and client employees efficiently to expedite their entry.
  • Provide an atmosphere where all client employees and visitors feel their needs are cared for. Ensure courteous respectful and pleasant interactions presenting a good image of the client and its security department.
  • Monitor entrances and exits prevent unauthorized or unlawful entry control the movement of people and vehicles and manage parking. Operate gates monitor remote entrances via closedcircuit television and direct disruptive individuals to leave the property calmly.
  • Patrol the site checking for unsafe conditions hazards unlocked doors security violations blocked ingress/egress mechanical issues and unauthorized persons. Inspect buildings and grounds using appropriate equipment and protective gear.
  • Protect evidence or the scene of an incident in the event of accidents emergencies or security investigations. Set up barriers and signage providing direction or information to others as needed.
  • Prepare logs or reports as required for the site; write or type reports or enter information into a computer using standard grammar; inspect security control logs and act as required.
  • Conduct daily audits to ensure adherence to shortage control safety and all other Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Identify and handle any security/safetyrelated issues.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to be an effective partner in meeting business needs.
  • Create and dispatch work orders for the scheduling of planned maintenance and service. Monitor and follow up on work orders.
  • Administer the checkin/checkout process for technicians in accordance with company safety policies and advise supervisors of any missing/late technicians.
  • Procure parts/materials for service work orders.
  • Provide service quotes to the supervisor.
  • Schedule and follow up on all monthly maintenance ensuring timely communication with the supervisor.
  • Respond to incidents such as fire medical emergencies bomb threats flooding water discharge elevator emergencies hazardous materials inclement weather and other conditions as per established site procedures company guidelines and training.
  • Create and track incidents reports as necessary.
  • Perform janitorial duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Required Qualifications


Education

High school degree or equivalent

Experience

A minimum of 1 2 years of related experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook

Exceptional customer service skills and thrives under pressure.

Experience with Janitorial & Maintenance operations

Ability to facilitate a collaborative working environment for clients and team members.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to handle multiple priorities at a time and problemsolve in an efficient manner.

Show integrity to complete tasks according to standard operating procedures with little supervision.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Onsite position

Position is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds.

Requires specific vision abilities to include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Requires the ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays as job duties may require.


Pay: $18 to $19.50 DOE
