Job Description

Our Child Care Team is supportive dynamic and growing! We are looking for individuals who are energetic active responsible and caring. This role is a temporary fulltime position for 8 weeks commencing on June 16th with 35 hours per week and the potential to continue into a permanent parttime position. Flexible shifts are available during the week Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.

This is a federally funded position and applicants must:

  • Be between 1630 years of age
  • Be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under theImmigration and RefugeeProtection Act for the duration of the employmentand
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

  • Assist with implementing program plans and leading daily activities in accordance with YMCA standards and program expectations based on program theme and age of participants.
  • Foster healthy meaningful relationships and provide a place to belong for children families and colleagues
  • Actively interacts with children ages 412 as a play partner
  • Ensure the safety of all members participants staff and property
  • Lead high quality program planning incorporating the Ys values
  • Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements and standards
  • Support implementation of play based educational programming including interactive play literacy mathematics science building drama games team building daily physical activity and sports
  • Participate in YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives

Wed love to hear from people with:

  • Over 16 years of age for Recreational Camps
  • Over 19 years of age with your Responsible Adult (or 20 hours of professional development relating to childrens health nutrition safety development and/or guidance) for licensed camps
  • Valid class 4 operators license (is an asset)
  • Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C
  • Experience working with children and youth with exceptionalities an asset
  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion to help children achieve their full potential through purposeful programming and implementation
