Job Description
DESCRIPTION: The Respiratory Therapist provides for the care treatment and general welfare of individuals who have intellectual disabilities complex medical mental health and/or behavioural health issues under the guidance of the Facility s Medical Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The duties of a Respiratory Therapist include conducting pulmonary function tests interpreting test results creating treatment plans administering inhalants and operating respiratory equipment. They also evaluate treatment effectiveness collaborate with physicians and educate patients on disease prevention and respiratory health.
- Use and have a working knowledge of all respiratory equipment. Which are: medical air compressor small medical air compressor for nebulizer treatments oxygen concentrator oxygen tanks regulators pulse oximeter continuous pulse oximeter night time pulse oximeter suction machine home CPAP machine home BIPAP machine EZPAP therapy Oxygen devices Ambubag AED Trilogy ventilator Hamilton C1 ventilator The vest The MetaNeb Electrocardiogram machine Cuffalator and Shiley Tracheostomy tubes.
- Completes computer data entry other document and file in a timely manner any reports records or other documentation required in providing respiratory services and in the format specified by the
- Comply with facility Standard Operating Procedures to meet standards for accrediting agencies.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must currently be certified or registered to practice as a respiratory therapist by the Texas Medical Board.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- Must not be excluded from providing services to persons on Medicare and Medicaid;
- Must have a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
- Must submit to and pass drug screening and criminal history checks including fingerprint checks and registry clearance checks.
- Must complete the facility and required training.
- Must Comply with all other job requirements specified by the Facility.
