Our Insights platform empowers educational institutions to analyze vast amounts of exam data providing critical analytics that drive better learning outcomes. We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to develop and maintain the core data processing and reporting systems that power this platform.
As a core contributor to our Examsoft Insights team you will play a key role in developing and enhancing the data processing and reporting systems that power our analytics platform.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines for processing and transforming large volumes of exam data using Java AWS Lambda SQS EventBridge and other AWS technologies.
- Develop and optimize data storage and retrieval systems ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Implement monitoring and alerting for data processing systems to ensure reliability and performance.
- Design / Implement RESTful APIs and eventdriven systems.
- Optimize existing services for near realtime performance and costefficiency.
- Collaborate closely with crossfunctional teams including Architects Product Managers and other engineering leads to deliver innovative solutions.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure highquality code through peer reviews automated testing and adherence to software development standards.
- Create comprehensive documentation for the developed shared components including usage guidelines and examples.
Essential Qualifications Skills and Knowledge/Experience:
- 8 years of expertise in backend development with proficiency in Java and experience with serverless frameworks (e.g. AWS Lambda Google Cloud Functions).
- Strong understanding of data modeling and experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g. DynamoDB).
- Ability to analyze data processing bottlenecks and identify performance improvements.
- Proven ability to work effectively in crossfunctional teams and collaborate with stakeholders across various locations including distributed teams based in Europe and the USA to deliver impactful solutions.
- Extensive experience with software development best practices (e.g. design patterns testdriven development code profiling debugging).
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical colleagues in agile environments.
Preferred Qualifications Skills and Knowledge/Experience:
- Experience with CI/CD tools including build deployment and test automation.
- Understanding or experience with AI/ML.
- A passion for mentoring and developing the skills of junior engineers.
