At Wise were on a mission to make financial services faster simpler and more accessible for everyone. The Getting Help team plays a critical role in this mission by empowering customers to solve their problems quickly and efficiently.  

Weve built the infrastructure for FAQs selfservice pages and most recently launched a chat platform as a primary support channel. Were enabling smarter customer interactions automating solutions and helping other teams deliver better support experiences through it. In 2025 were doubling down on making chat the goto channel for our customers and we need your expertise to take it to the next level .  

What Does Our Team Look Like

Were a crossfunctional team of backend frontend iOS and Android engineers working handinhand with a Product Manager Analyst and Designer. Together we deliver seamless impactful solutions across all Wise platforms. Collaboration is at the heart of what we dowe value ownership knowledge sharing and a commitment to building stable scalable systems while embracing fastpaced learning and iteration.  

What We Expect From You 

As a Medior Backend Engineer youll be instrumental in building and maintaining robust and scalable backend systems. Youll independently tackle significant development tasks contribute to project delivery and collaborate closely with the team on feature implementation and issue resolution. Were looking for a proactive individual with a strong foundation in backend technologies a passion for writing clean and efficient code and a desire to learn and grow within a supportive environment.

Qualifications :

Technical Excellence  

3 years of experience with Java or other JVMbased languages and handson experience with the Spring framework.  

A track record of writing clean maintainable code and a strong belief in best practices like code reviews open feedback and continuous improvement.  

Familiarity with backend development including databases (SQL/NoSQL) synchronous/asynchronous communication and distributed systems.  

Experience with web development technologies such as REST APIs microservices and CI/CD pipelines.  

The ability to design technical solutions that balance latency throughput and scalability.  

A passion for learning new technologies tools and patterns to solve problems effectively.  

Product Mindset

A customerfirst approachyou prioritize work that solves real customer pain points and use data to drive decisions.  

The ability to take ownership of problems propose solutions and drive projects endtoend to deliver measurable impact.  

A knack for identifying opportunities to deliver value faster and providing constructive feedback on product and design decisions.

Strong communication skillsyou can break down complex technical concepts for nontechnical audiences and collaborate effectively across teams.
