Job Description

FOOD SERVICE MANAGER Senior Living

Salary: $55000 $65000 annually plus 5% bonus potential

What you will do

The Food Service Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the food and beverage outlets at a retirement community that operates similarly to a country club. The primary role will be front of the house forward and also includes the selection development and performance management of employees.

You will...

  • Oversee daily operations of the dining program ensuring highquality residentcentered service.

  • Plan coordinate and supervise meal preparation and service to ensure nutritional standards menu variety and resident satisfaction.

  • Hire train schedule and supervise kitchen and dining room staff fostering a positive teamoriented work culture.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal state and local health safety and food handling regulations (e.g. HACCP OSHA CMS).

  • Collaborate with the Registered Dietitian and Executive Chef to accommodate dietary restrictions therapeutic diets and special meal requests.

  • Manage food and supply inventory including ordering storage rotation and cost control to stay within budget.

  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks of food production plate presentation and dining area cleanliness.

  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules and food safety protocols for kitchen and dining staff.

  • Work closely with residents family members and care teams to address concerns and gather feedback to continuously improve the dining experience.

  • Maintain accurate documentation related to food safety temperature logs employee training and regulatory inspections.

  • Coordinate with Activities and Lifestyle staff for themed meals special events and holiday dining programs.

  • Monitor and report on dining program performance including satisfaction surveys meal participation rates and compliance audits.

  • Participate in or lead staff meetings safety drills and continuing education related to culinary services in senior care.

  • Ensure staff adherence to uniform and grooming standards to maintain a professional and welcoming environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Ability to:

  • Perform job functions with attention to detail speed and accuracy.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in verbal and digital environments.
  • Prioritize organize and follow up.
  • Be a clear thinker remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Follow directions thoroughly.
  • Work with minimal supervision.

What you will need

  • Minimum of three (3) years Food Service management experience preferred depending upon formal degree or training.
  • Certified Dietary Manager preferred.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of direct food service operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience managing country clubs large hotels or highend restaurants.
  • Experience in a retirement community is desirable but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of fullservice dining room management.
  • Proficient with MS Office and other organizational computer tools.
  • Budgeting Capital and Strategic Planning
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Provide legible communication and directions.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler Certificate Required.
  • Previous P&L accountability or contractmanaged service experience is desirable.
  • High school certificate or equivalent.
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
