The Materials & Process Engineering (M&PE) Department which functions within the Mechanical Engineering Discipline team is seeking a Section Leader to lead our Process Development & Efficiency team located mainly in Andover MA. As a Section Leader the ideal candidate will be accountable for direct management of 1822 engineers with specialties in plating welding corrosion adhesives plastics sealants metallurgy and other material processes. As a Section Lead the ideal candidate will be accountable for direct line management of the engineering team supporting program operations supply chain and quality for materials engineering related tasks including supplier process development and oversight. The Section Leader is responsible for performance development and technical oversight of all activities within the section. In addition the Section Leader is responsible for coordinating M&PE resources to effectively meet programs requirements.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform direct line management activities and provides leadership for approximately 1822 engineers within this multidisciplined group. These activities include technical oversight of program support and projects technical development of people training performance management laboratory management and resource allocation.

  • Perform individual contributor workload in the leaders subject matter discipline.

  • Team with the Department Leader in the execution of Materials and Process Engineering Mechanical Engineering Discipline and Raytheon Engineering goals. Lead and support department directorate and engineering initiatives.

  • Manage workload to assure that programs and Materials Engineering team receive the required support consistent with schedule needs

  • Ensure twoway communication for section members; serve as the daytoday liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments performance and recognition.

  • Responsibilities also include coordinating program and department staffing needs optimizing resource utilization and supporting recruitment and retention efforts.

  • Provide Materials and Process Engineering support and technical oversight to programs product life cycle (design reviews gate reviews Material Review Board Change Control Board Process Change Board and engineering peer reviews).

  • Ensure labor costs and estimated completion schedules provided by the Materials Engineering Sections are negotiated understood and meet product/program commitments

  • Provide evaluation and resolution to technical operational and supplier problems related to materials and processes

  • Provide M&PE support to programs design reviews gate reviews Material Review Board Change Control Board Process Change Board and engineering peer reviews.

  • Provide oversight to ensure the accuracy of technical output of each assignment including the M&PE positions based on data and analyses.

  • Interface with other organizations across the Raytheon Enterprise such as Mission Assurance & Quality Operations Reliability and Supply Chain.

The M&PE Process Development & Efficiency SL job is in Andover MA and the position is onsite.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree 12 years of experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience

  • Experience with materials and process design development and/or production support for military programs

  • Experience with working on a crossfunctional team to meet program milestones and commitments

  • Experience with managing engineering budgets with Earned Value Management (EVMS) Estimate at Complete (EAC) process and supporting/leading proposals

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines. ABET is the preferred although not required accreditation standard

  • Eight (8) years of experience in materials problem solving materials design selection and reviews or evaluation/validation of material properties for new or existing products

  • Working experience with IPDS Gate Reviews PDM assembly drawings material specifications and military specifications

  • Experience in program system processes related to Material Review Boards Material and Process Change Boards Risk Boards and/or Engineering Review Boards

  • Direct participation in program or project milestones such as preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews

  • Familiarity with Engineering Team Strength Labor Forecasting (ELF) or similar

  • Basis of Estimate (BOE) Certification

  • EVMS Certification

  • Experience with Risk & Opportunity Management

  • Ability to work collaboratively in an Integrated Product Team environment interfacing with multiple Engineering disciplines Operations Supply Chain Quality IPT Leadership Program Managers and Customers

The salary range for this role is 101000 USD 203000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
