Contra Costa County is one of the largest employers in the area offering multiple career opportunities in public service. The Contra Costa County Assessors Office discovers and assesses all property within the County; produces and delivers an assessment roll by July 1 of each year; values all real property; audits all entities doing business in the County and values all taxable personal property; establishes and maintains a set of 12800 maps for assessment purposes; delineates every parcel of land in the County; and provides a public information service to assist taxpayers with questions about property ownership and assessment.
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Principal Appraiser vacancy.

What you will typically be responsible for:
Overseeing a division of the Assessors Office
Assisting with the creation and development of County appraisal policies
Advising and assisting directly and indirectly in the supervision of office staff
Researching analyzing data and preparing reports and presentations
Reviewing processes and workflows within a division and implementing changes to improve efficiency and quality

License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operators License. Out of state valid motor vehicle operators license will be accepted during the application process.
Certificate: Possession of a valid Appraisers Certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization.
Experience: Five (5) years of fulltime or its equivalent experience in appraising real and/or personal property in a California County Assessors Office or in a state or federal agency in California responsible for appraising property at least two (2) years of which must have been at the level of Supervising Appraiser or Supervising AuditorAppraiser in Contra Costa County
