JOB DESCRIPTION:
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Scientist position in the laboratory of Dr. Basavaraj Balapal at the Center for Dementia Research (CDR) Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (Orangeburg NY). This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic interdisciplinary research environment with access to cuttingedge technologies and mentorship in neurodegeneration neuronal maturation and associated biochemical epigenetic transcriptional neurobehavioral electrophysiological and pathological changes at the celltypespecific level. Using unique transgenic mouse models we explore the mechanisms underlying disorders linked to earlylife environmental exposures (e.g. alcohol) and aim to develop novel therapeutic strategies.
JOB DUTIES:
Possess expertise in molecular/cellular biology techniques including ChIP qPCR Western blotting and immunohistochemistry.
Experience with small animal surgery (viral/drug injections) biochemical methods confocal microscopy and/or electrophysiology is highly desirable.
A strong background in epigenetics transcriptomics or neurobehavioral assessments is a plus. The successful candidate will be expected to
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and two years of professional research experience in appropriate field or masters degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of the experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. or minimum of a graduate degree in neuroscience biochemistry molecular biology genetics or related field in neuroscience.
5 years experience in a research setting
Possess expertise in molecular/cellular biology techniques including ChIP qPCR Western blotting and immunohistochemistry.
Strong background in biochemical molecular and omic techniques.
Background in epigenetics transcriptomics or neurobehavioral assessments is a plus
Experience with animal behavior and electrophysiology is desirable.
Excellent communication organizational and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
