CAHSS/ School of Social and Political Science

Parttime: 7 hours per week

Fixed term: 6 months this post is fixed term from 18 August 2025 to 30 January 2026.

The Opportunity:

As Course Organiser for the UG course Mathematics for Social Science you will contribute to the organisation and delivery of this undergraduate course in the Social Policy subject area teaching quantitative analysis methods andfoundational mathematical principals behind common statistical techniques to beginners.

This post is part time (7 hours per week). We are open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a noncontractual basis) that combines a mix of remote within the UK and regular oncampus working. Teaching delivery must be carried out in person on campus.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Appropriate degree with relevant postgraduate teaching experience. Normally a PhD either awarded or near submission in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of quantitative analysis methods in the social sciences; and confidence in communicating foundational mathematical principles behind common statistical techniques to beginners
  • Evidence of recent sustained and developing attainments in teaching appropriate to career stage also indicative of commitment to and potential for excellence in teaching.
  • Evidence of an ability to design and deliver course materials and to assess student performance including the provision of detailed feedback.
  • An ability to work as part of a team as well as independently including an ability to demonstrate sharing administrative responsibilities.
