Suitably qualified applicants are invited to apply for the 2026Trauma Fellowposition within theTrauma Servicelocated at Alfred Health.
This role has the key responsibility for coordinating the day to day work of the Unit and supervision of more junior medical staff and managing their duties. The placement is designed to provide appropriate exposure and experience to enable the doctor to attain the required skills and knowledge for that term in that discipline.
The fellow should act as an adviser and mentor to the registrar (and also resident).The fellow and registrar are expected to interchange their clinical duties to ensure that both training and patient care is Trauma Fellow is required to hold a FRACS/FACEM/FANZCA/FCICM or equivalent. The position is for a period of 6 or 12 months. The Fellow will work with Trauma Registrars with backgrounds from General Surgery) Emergency Medicine Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine HMOs and interns working for the Trauma Service.
The Trauma Fellows role includes rostered duty covering day evening weekend and overnight periods. Duties include the reception assessment resuscitation and ongoing management of acute trauma patients within a multidisciplinary setting (involving specialised emergency physicians general surgeons and specialty surgeons interventional radiologists and anaesthetists).
