BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grind Shop Manager will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Grind Shop overseeing the production of specialty and regrind tool manufacturing. This position will require a strong leader to effectively accomplish safety operational quality and budgetary goals.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership direction and motivation to the management team to successfully and effectively work to accomplish operational goals and ensure optimum performance of the Grind Shop.
  • Directs supervisors and associates in the performance of the daytoday operations of the Grind Shop.
  • Delegates responsibilities between department supervisors to achieve optimal operating results and continuous improvement.
  • Has input on the Grind Shop budget ensures adherence to the budget and takes corrective action as required. Strives for productivity and quality improvements in the operation.
  • Develops crossfunctional relationships external to the Grind Shop to achieve goals and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Directs efforts to improve profitability through cost reduction cost avoidance and process improvement/loss prevention.
  • Directs staff meetings to ensure communication of strategy and resolution of issues.
  • Manages significant crossfunctional projects to ensure goals and timelines are met.
  • Manages Grind Shop inventory and ensures that all checks and balances are in place and operational to ensure inventory integrity/loss prevention.
  • Ensure associates have proper training skills and knowledge to perform assignments in accordance with process control plans.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by surveying work area for safety infractions hazards and communicating expected safe work practices to Associates.
  • Performs all duties inherent in the role of MSC Manager as defined by the MSC Code of Conduct including hiring termination review and development of associates.
  • Drives the MSC Culture in the Grind Shop and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSCs mission.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in the appropriate discipline or equivalent experience is required
  • Minimum of three years prior experience in manufacturing management including direct management of staff required.
  • Cutting tool application knowledge use of CNC machinery and/or field experience is preferred

SKILLS:

  • Excellent leadership analytical communication and organizational skills required.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills required (Word PowerPoint Excel and Outlook).
  • Excellent time management skills required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some local travel will be required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Must wear safety glasses on a regular basis.
