Primary Purpose
The Director of Student Life Sacramento Campus is a liveon position that reports to the Assistant Vice President of Student Life. This position will serve on the University DeanonCall rotation and will need to engage in collaborative relationships with university colleagues daily. Specific responsibilities include the daytoday management of campus housing (apartments) and the student conduct review (adjudication) process for graduate students on the Sacramento campus. The Director will assist with emergency management and crisis intervention and will serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. This position requires access to and management of confidential information and requires discretion and independent judgement. As a member of the Residential Life & Housing ( RLH ) team responsibilities include but are not limited to: housing business operations occupancy management key management and technology. The Director of Student Life will be responsible for hiring training supervision and evaluation of four Resident Assistants (RAs) and will provide support to the Stockton Housing office Title IX and Dean of Students Conduct office as needed. Occasional evening weekend and/or holiday work is required with this position.
Essential Functions
Serves as a member of the Dean OnCall team that supports the primary residential on duty program and participates in the larger University emergency response team/system. Respond to and/or coordinate responses to student behavior community & facility issues and crisis/emergency management; directly respond to students of concern as warranted. Accept and respond to evening weekend and/or holiday phone calls of emergency nature. Participates in the weekly CARE Team meeting and Behavioral Intervention Team as needed. Under the direction of Title IX and Conduct collaboratively developments policies procedures and programs relative to the Graduate Student Code of Conduct in support of students ethical reasoning and collegiate success. Oversees the graduate student conduct review (adjudication) process including administrative and board review hearings and employs policy to ensure procedural protections fundamental fairness and access for all parties. Implements the adjudication process to include procedural compliance with institutional state and federal mandates that include selection training supervision and evaluation of conduct board members and serves as an administrative hearing officer and appeals officer as needed. Serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator under the supervision of the Universitys Title IX office. Responsible for hiring training supervision and evaluation of four Resident Assistants (RAs). Facilitate the development of Resident Assistants (RAs) on all aspects of the residential experience policies and processes. Develops student leaders ability to be successful in all aspects of their position through training supervision and ongoing support. Plan monitor and coordinate daytoday administrative activity for campus housing on the Sacramento campus exercising discretion and independent judgment. This includes but is not limited to execution of housing strategies written correspondence policy enforcement records retention and administrative report writing. Ensures housing office compliance with University local state and federal requirements. Provides leadership oversight and coordination of business operations and occupancy management through implementation of policies that support efficient and effective unit functioning. This includes but is not limited to the housing applications and room assignment processes contract/license management; movein & moveout processes and guest housing. Makes recommendations to supervisor about housing contract budget requirements and housing rates. The Director of Student Life will oversee the student mail/package operation for students living in campus housing. Assists Residential Life & Housings Operations team and Business Manager with student housing fiscal responsibilities including but not limited to: managing office and programmatic budgets housing billing past due accounts/late fee collections cleaning/damage billing and other financial needs. Administers a housing key and access management system. Maintain policies and procedures for housing facility access control inventory of all keys processing and authorizing key requests and lock/key changes and distribution of keys to students. Serves as part of the Residential Life and Housing team to devise execute and evaluate departmental goals policies organization and programs. Design coordinate and implement ongoing housing assessment initiatives. Research and prepare a market analysis for housing in the Sacramento community surrounding the campus. Interact with and become acquainted with all individuals residing in the campus apartments. Collaborate with Student Life and campus colleagues to implement programming events and activities for the residential students. Provide housing tours and give presentations for orientations special events etc. Coordinate technology needs with University colleagues for the housing program including oversight of the housing website social media housing management system etc. Utilize the housing database or other approved management systems. Collaborate with Buildings & Grounds to ensure clean safe residential communities. Direct the apartment turnover process including facility inspection pest control furniture & appliance inventory & upkeep identification of maintenance/custodial needs and initiate action to prepare the apartments for new occupancy. Communicate with residents and respond to housing related maintenance and custodial needs. Review and approve maintenance work orders and provide Building & Grounds with lists of maintenance work required. Provide followup on work order requests. Assists with the facilitation of Residential Life & Housing campus crisis response including evacuations of residential communities and emergency housing requests. Implements accommodations approved by the Housing Petition Committee or Special Accommodation Request processes working with RLH staff and other university partners (Services for Students with Disabilities Student Health Services Counseling & Psychological Services Care Team Title IX etc.) as needed. Be sensitive and in compliance with the needs requirements and laws pertaining to student accommodations. Manages I.D. card system to ensure accuracy and security in providing building laundry and meal plan access to residents and staff. Assist the Assistant Vice President of Student Life with Dining projects as requested. Represents the department on University committees and on special projects as appointed by the Assistant Vice President of Student Life or designee. Attend and participate in department and division meetings. Develops collaborative relationships across the Division of Student Life and other campus partners that facilitate achievement of unit goals and responsibilities. Collaborate and provide support as needed with the Housing & Residential Life staff on the University of the Pacific Stockton campus. Complies with federal and state requirements for reporting including serving as a Campus Security Authority ( CSA ) for all Clery Act reportable crimes Mandated Reporter under CANRA and required reporter under the policy prohibiting sexual misconduct discrimination. Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five (5) years experience in residential life student conduct prevention programming or other relevant areas of student affairs or demonstrated related work experience. Three (3) years experience supervising staff. One (1) year of experience using StarRez Housing Management software.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior liveon/oncall experience in a University setting Prior experience as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator Demonstrated Conflict management skills
