Construction Inspector II

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is seeking a creative highly talented Construction Inspector II for the Cincinnati and/or Columbus office. This position provides the opportunity to work on large unique and complex transportation projects in Ohio and throughout the country.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

 Field inspection and oversight of transportation construction projects including bridges road traffic signals signing ITS and underground facilities.

Monitor and record the work and progress of contractors while tracking material quality and usage using FieldBook and ProjectWise.

 Verify that traffic control measures are implemented and maintained during construction.

 Maintain communication between AECOM supervisors and peers ODOT and local agency personnel contractor personnel and the general public.

 Perform NPDES inspections.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Valid Drivers license with good driving record
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications

Preferred Requirements 

• Minimum 4 years of ODOT other state DOT or local agency construction inspection experience required; or demonstrated equivalent combination of education skills knowledge abilities and experience
• Basic understanding of construction principles and practices
• Ability to document any and all relevant events issues and variances
• Good active written and verbal communication with construction personnel and engineers
• Ability to perform basic computations and calculations
• Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 
• Works under general supervision. 
• May assist with training entrylevel employees. 
• Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality performance specifications and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties. 
• Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records. 
• Participates in punch lists testing and commissioning. 
• Tracks quality assurance progress.

Additional Information :

• Weekend and night work will be required
• Overnight travel within the state may be required
