Job Description

The Supervisor Warehouse oversees staff and daily operations within the Central Receiving Warehouse to ensure efficient receiving shipping and distribution of materials. This role manages workloads and schedules to optimize staff and equipment usage ensures accurate documentation and monitors deliveries to campus destinations. The supervisor also oversees Surplus Operations and inventory in compliance with university policies and procedures.

This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee assigned staff to ensure proper receiving and shipping activities within the Central Receiving warehouse. Manage and monitors staff schedules and workloads to maximize utilization of employees and equipment and ensure fair production between staff and verify goods are delivered within established guidelines. Utilize PantherBuy or FAMIS/FRS systems to ensure packages are delivered to the appropriate area and final end users as ordered. Conducts training for new staff.

  • Ensures receipt of freight and handles freight functions and distribution of materials supplies and equipment including appropriate documentation. Ensures that freight delivered reaches final destination properly labeled and according to established tracking policies and procedures.

  • Oversees the receipt storage and documentation of surplus items. Provides advice and assistance to customers regarding the sale and disposal of surplus equipment. Coordinates surplus auctions including organizing and arranging auction items into lots inventory of auction items and removal of items auctioned. Contacts the auctioneer and arranges for employees to work at the auction. Ensures that auctions and disposal of surplus/salvage material comply with rules and regulations.

  • Oversees management of warehouse layout and inventory. Maintains files and supporting documentation related to receiving and shipping of freight. Develops computerized spreadsheets and databases. Maintains computer inventory records of deletions and transfers of physical plant properties.

  • Updates instruction and procedure manuals and website documentation. Attends training and workshops as required. Generates monthly reports. Confers with staff on program issues and problems. Develops and recommends program guidelines. Interprets policies rules and regulations and ensures they are followed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four years of related experience in receiving storing and issuing a variety of materials supplies and equipment or warehousing experience including related supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of forklift operation.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Required Registrations Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid drivers license.

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects.

  • Must be able to work in hot and/or cold warehouse conditions without climate control.
