The Job

Working in partnership to promote and improve health wellness safety and quality of life in San Bernardino County.

The Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for Nurse Practitioners II (NP II)who provide patient care services in primary care clinics with behavioral health integration using the collaborative care model. Duties include obtaining patient health history; performing physical examinations; identifying abnormal conditions and developing treatment plans; recording findings assessment treatment plans followup examinations and subsequent evaluations; engaging mental health screenings and providing interventions with support from a clinical therapist and Psychiatrist.

The base salary range for Nurse Practitioners is between $58.33 and $76.53 per hour. Step placement is determined by your previous nursing experience certifications and education level.

Immediate vacancies exist in the Hesperia/Adelanto Federally Qualified Health Centers.The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies throughout Federally Qualified Health Centers in San Bernardino and Ontario as they occur.

MBO provides a $2.00 hourly rate of pay increase which will be considered as part of the base hourly rate when calculating:

  • County contribution to the Retirement Medical Trust (RMT)*
  • Sick leave cashouts pursuant to RMT Article and
  • Leave cashouts

Paid Time Off (PTO) in lieu of separate usespecific leave accruals:

  • Flexibility in use
  • Greater cash out value
*Except for those who are enrolled in the Blue Shield PPO Bronze Plan and FSA and who receive the County match for FSA.

*Recruitment Bonus:Eligible employees hired into a regular classified position from this recruitment may be eligible to received $3000 in total compensation. Please see the

Minimum Requirements

Applicants mustpossess all of the following education andlicensure/certificationrequirements:Education

Licensure/CertificationApplicants mustpossess and maintain all of the following items:
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN) for a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
  • Valid Registered Nurse license issued by the CA BRN
  • Valid Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate (Course Completion Card) issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate for authorization to prescribe all necessary medication and verification as a legitimate handler of controlled substances.

Experience

Six (6) months of fulltime equivalent paidexperience as a journeylevel licensed Family Nurse Practitioner.

NOTE: NP I is a Traineelevel classification and is not considered qualifying experience. The licensed NP experience must be in a journeylevel NP II or higher classification to be considered qualifying.
