Orient new bus drivers and bus aides to district transportation policies and procedures. |
Plans and conduct inservice training and refresher course for current drivers and aides. |
Schedule sub drivers in the absence of regular drivers. |
Fill in for trip coordinator if they are unvailable. |
Coordinate bus routes with Elko County School District staff to efficiently accommodate student and program placement. |
Determine student eligibility for transportation service based on District policies regulations and procedures. |
Collect and communicate necessary route data and information related to special needs of designated students to appropriate Transportation Department personnel. |
May assist the trip coordinator in the routing and scheduling of school buses. Distributes schedules and route information to required sources. |

Conduct field surveys driver/route audits and mileage checks to compute time efficiency of routes and ensure economical allocation of resources; optimize stop run and route information; review driver requests for time change; analyse bus runs and routes edit and/or split routes and initiates action to increase or decrease driver time; prepare and submit time changes as appropriate. |
Prepare publications of bus route maps for parents and students; prepare publications of bus runs/routes and student lists for drivers and schools. |
Collect and communicate necessary route data and information related to special needs of designated students to drivers and field supervisors on a daily basis. |
Assist Transportation Supervisor with the complete breakdown of driver audits input review and evaluation of data entered into scheduling of pupil transportation programs to ensure accuracy of students transportation and driver time statistics. |
Process Sibling RideAlong forms to determine eligibility by assessing headcounts bus configuration and space availability. |
Assist the Transportation Supervisor in collecting data; (i.e. length of runs student requirements ride along requests linking of schools regarding bell times) and preparing reports to develop specialized runs and routes. |
Create bus stop locations for routes per IEP and special need requests. |
Prepare publications to schools parents and students regarding changes in bus stop locations stop times bus or route numbers and letters of transportation eligibility. |
Prepare routing and scheduling maps as directed by Transportation Routing and Scheduling Supervisor. |
Conform to safety standards as prescribed. |
Perform other tasks related to the position as assigned. |
Assist Transportation Routing and Scheduling Analysts in the management of computerized routing and scheduling for regular and special education transportation. |
Coordinate transportation optimization of bus stops runs and routes for regular and special education students. |
