You just might be the person we are looking for if you have:
Bachelors degree from accredited university Masters preferred
Reading specialization preferred
Training in Dyslexia Intervention Program
Training in Dyslexia Assessment
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
Spanish proficiency required
Four plus years of experience teaching reading
Knowledge of reading intervention strategies
Ability to administer and interpret diagnostic reading assessment instruments
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and meet other student needs as required
Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate small and large group instruction Leadership skills
The mission of this role:
Provide itinerant dyslexia intervention to identified bilingual students and conduct dyslexia assessment
What success looks like for this role:
- Provide itinerant dyslexia intervention to identified students
- Administer and interpret comprehensive dyslexia assessment
- Participate in RTI Section 504 and ARD committees to collaboratively make decisions about dyslexia identification and appropriate interventions
- Attend ongoing staff development in the area of reading intervention
- Attend dyslexia teacher meetings
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students
- Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies administrative regulations and IEPs
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members
- Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible
- Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for teachers
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required
- Articulate the districts mission and goals in areas of assigned responsibilities to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission
- Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs and initiate activities to meet identified needs
- Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent Involvement

Workplace operational environment to include:
Standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping bending pulling and pushing ie relocating stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom equipment. The level of mobility required depends upon the grade level of teaching assignment(s) and requirements thereof. Must maintain emotional control under stress.
