Job Description

IQVIA Medical Communications (IMC) is seeking an Associate Scientific Director to ideate and lead the development of a range of medical and scientific communication solutions (including but not limited to scientific platforms medical plans publication plans advisory boards and steering committees) while helping to grow our business.

The Associate Scientific Director Medical Communications Position

This position is homebased with frequent collaboration with a globally distributed team. IQVIA offers a competitive salary and great benefits including a profitrelated annual bonus.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead the development of a range of medical and scientific communication solutions ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and impact across various therapeutic areas in support of client objectives through the following activities:

  • Act as Scientific Lead for the development and delivery of a range of programs and projects from business development through to profitable program execution.
    • Independently (or with oversight on atypical projects) create forwardthinking highquality communications strategies for multifaceted programs using understanding of therapy area market and client objectives.
    • Lead meetings with relevant stakeholders presenting scientific/clinical concepts and facilitating discussions as required.
    • Independently coordinate and ensure consistent production of highquality deliverables according to the needs and objectives of the client intended audience and delivery modality while meeting compliance deadline and scope requirements.
      • Design develop and review deliverables to improve them in scope.
      • Coach and mentor team members; assist in training.
  • Provide scientific counsel expertise and strategic advice as a subject matter expert across a range of communications deliverables.
  • Grow the business with existing and new clients:
    • Act as content lead in the development and delivery of new business proposals and RFIs/RFPs.
    • Lead on project specifications and cost estimates working closely with business development and project teams.
    • Identify new solutions and services.
    • Elevate our profile as a bestinclass reputable brand of IQVIA in part by participating in relevant industry forums contributing to thought leadership and marketing articles and establishing a reputation and network within the wider industry.
  • Participate in the operational management of assigned communications activities and work closely with senior colleagues to achieve business targets.
  • Contribute to or oversee the development and implementation of department standard operating procedures (SOPs) quality measures and working practices to meet industry standards client expectations and targets.
  • Travel to local or international facetoface client meetings congresses or other meeting types if needed (up to 10% of contracted hours per year).

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in medical or scientific discipline (MD PharmD PhD preferred) or equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • Extensive (6 years) prior experience in medical and scientific communications including review/QC responsibilities proposal/business development and scientific direction in a variety of therapeutic areas preferably within an agency environment.
  • Native English speaker or bilingual/proficient level of academic English.
  • Exemplary writing and content development skills in PowerPoint and Word to a standard appropriate for mentoring junior staff and providing QC signoff.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with proven ability to build and maintain effective work and client relationships.
  • Proven mentorship project leadership and business development skills.
  • Full understanding of current industry code of practice guidelines and their implications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry and ability to effectively drive strategy.
  • Strategic ability deep therapeutic expertise and creative ability to serve as scientific lead for a range of medical and scientific communication solutions.
