9:00am9:00pm
36 hours/week
Schedule: Block scheduling 3 days on 2 days off 3 days on 6 days off (Ex: would work W TH F be off the weekend work M T W and come back in the next Wednesday).
No call required.
Up to $15000 sign on bonus for qualified candidates!
Overview
The Certified Surgical Assistant anticipates the needs of the surgical team the Surgical Assistant assists the surgeon with tasks such as selecting equipment set up of various tables and positioning equipment providing retraction for visualization of surgical site cauterization of bleeding vessels suturing and closure of incision instillation of medications application of surgical dressings splints and casts. In addition to intraoperative duties the surgical assistant also performs preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care. The surgical assistant uses effective interdisciplinary communication to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
Graduate of CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited Surgical Assistant Program
Surgical Assistant license required for appropriate state of practice
Education
- TS Trade School Graduate Surgical Assistant
Certification/Licensure
- Licensed Surgical Assistant Virginia
- Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) Certifications National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA) OR
- Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) Certifications National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification American Heart Association (AHA)
Experience
- Operating room experience (preferred)
Department Information:Performing an average of 7000 cases each year the Operating Room at SMJH has 8 OR suites and offers a variety of service lines including; Complex GYN Neurosurgery Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. It is also the 2nd highestperforming OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures.
