Job Description

Experienced Aircraft Assembly Systems Mechanics (Level B or C) (Variable Shift)

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA)is currently seeking Aircraft Assembly Systems Mechanics (Level B or C) to assist with multiple areas of the 787 production system in North Charleston South Carolina on a variable shift!

This role offers an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage their prior experience and the knowledge gained from training and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively.

Individuals will be responsible for identifying their work locations on advanced airplanes parts and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools parts and equipment required to ensure defectfree work. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Must have the ability to complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain all required certifications.

  • Use a computer in a production environment.

  • Look up/read/comprehend technical work instructions drawings and/or specifications.

  • Install various parts and assemblies such as landing gear aircraft control surfaces exterior panels carpets blankets roller trays/ball mats stowbins sidewalls ceiling panels lavatories galleys doors and seats.

  • Install various aircraft system components such as tubing valves regulators actuators compressors and ducts.

  • Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task you are performing.

  • Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. ladders tiger and snorkel lifts).

  • Use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as screwdrivers ratchets power screwdriver multi meters continuity testers.

  • Apply chemical solvents sealants coatings primers adhesives paints and special finishes.

  • Inspect your work quality and check for FOD (Foreign Object Debris).

  • Climbing/balancing (stairs ladders poles scaffolding inclined surfaces) Crawling Crouching (squatting).

  • Work around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.

  • Finger manipulation (keyboarding other).

  • Reading from a computer screen printed drawings or documents.

  • Ability to adhere to high standards of Safety and Compliance to regulation

  • Carrying/Lifting up to 1035 pounds

  • Flexion/Extension (head bent down head bent back) Handling Kneeling Bending at the waist Reaching (overhead) Rotation of head/neck Standing Twisting at the waist and walking.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Boeing South Carolina.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. U.S. Person includes U.S. Citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Ability to work a variable shift.

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role such as: flexion/extension (head bent down head bent back) handling kneeling bending at the waist reaching (overhead) rotation of head/neck standing twisting at the waist and walking climbing/balancing (stairs ladders poles scaffolding inclined surfaces) crawling crouching (squatting).

  • Ability to carry/lift up to 1035 pounds.

  • Ability to work with High Hazard Chemicals.

  • 6 months experience using software applications for internet navigation email Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.

  • 6 months experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions reading and interpreting blueprints drawings or specifications in English.

  • 6 months experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand power and/or pneumatic (air) tools.

  • 6 months experience with tubing and ducting manufacturing/installation/maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Completion of degree or certification from a trade school and/or A&P license.

  • 3 years installing various aircraft system components such as tubing valves regulators actuators compressors and ducts.

  • 3 years in Automotive/Diesel/Heavy equipment mechanical experience:

  • 3 years troubleshooting service repair and diagnose cooling systems & lubricating systems.

  • 3 years with circuitry electrical systems lighting systems and their diagnostic equipment.

  • 3 years with diagnosing and repairing basic hydraulic brake systems.

Shift:

This position is for a variable shift (shift 4). Variable shift means you will be placed on a shift at the time of hire based on business needs at that time. You will remain on that shift until reevaluation is need.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for level B: $54000 $64000

Summary pay range for level C: $61200 $64500
