WHAT YOULL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Technician Automation l will be responsible for electromechanical troubleshooting machinery malfunctions isolating the problems and applying solutions that will minimize downtime and maximize production.
- Responsible for supporting the rebuilds of scales baggers checkweighers/metal detectors robotic components conveyors and validating operation is aligned with the manufacturers specifications.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Responsible for the design and test of system prototypes based on the engineers design
- Responsible for answering trouble calls to maintain maximum up time for all packaging equipment.
- Responsible for reviewing manuals and following diagrams to isolate and repair problems on machinery
- Executes preventive/predictive maintenance plans. Suggest ideas to improve these plans.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining electrical mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic processes of both automation and manual equipment in order to support production needs
- Responsible for updating maintenance and inspection records
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by conforming to all established safety policies and procedures
- Develop a thorough knowledge of automation department equipment in order to repair and verify safe operation
- Use drawings sketches specs charts and tables to identify spare/repair parts
- Determine preventive maintenance schedules and machine capabilities to optimize reliable operation
- Identify issues and react urgently including bringing longterm downtime or urgent quality issues to the Shift Supervisor/Manager.
- Work independently to perform minor equipment improvements on projects to reduce downtime.
- Identify/eliminate quality defects caused by the equipment.
- Assisting with the commissioning of new equipment installations
- Responsible for maintaining a record of work performed on the equipment
- Assist or perform other duties/projects as assigned.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have High School/GED or minimum seven years experience in related field or combination of both education and experience.
- To ensure a safe and productive workplace candidates for this position must demonstrate a consistent commitment to safety. Any history of incidents including recent convictions for driving under the influence (DUI) within the past two years will be evaluated on a casebycase basis to determine potential impact on the candidates ability to safely perform the essential duties of the job
Required Skills and Abilities:- Must have the ability to work with minimum supervision
- Must be able to use a multimeter and other test equipment
- Must have excellent mechanical skills also able to read and follow wiring diagrams
- Must have knowledge of PLC systems and operation.
- Must be able to communicate with supervisors and managers and other coworkers
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience in manufacturing environment with proven skills in mechanical engineering and electrical troubleshooting preferred
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Environmental exposure cold/wet conditions (40 or below).
- Must be able to work in all types of environments such as but not limited to outside extremes of hot and cold wet or dry. Inside extremes of hot and humid to the cold of the cold storage. Tight confined spaces or great heights such as on a roof ladder or platform.
- Must be able to push pull carry or lift up to 50 lbs.
- Material exposure moving mechanical parts
- Occasional exposure to fumes airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery.
- Must be able to distinguish various colors of wires.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in an upright position walking on both even and uneven surfaces
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders scaffolding using 3point contact on a regular basis
- Ability to stoop crouch and kneel on a regular basis
- Ability to use hands and arms to grasp manipulate and handle objects in one position for an extended period of time.
- Ability to successfully wear a full face and half face respirator mask for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
- 2nd Shift 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; Overtime Weekends and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
