Youth Coordinator

Hours: Part time 29 hours or less; 3pm7pm MonFri during the school year. 10am2pm during the summer.

Compensation: $20.00 per hour


Position Summary

Responsible for preparing and supervising activities in the Reimagine program. Youth Coordinators will assist children with their homework organize crafting or athletic activities manage distribution of snacks and support during community outings.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises youth participants; provides youth participants with positive support guidance and training/development opportunities in coordination with both onsite or offsite youth activities and/or field trips.
  • Create a welcoming caring and professional environment for all children and parents.
  • Meet childrens physical emotional and educational needs.
  • Work in a team environment and encourage open communication.
  • Uses motivational techniques to encourage teamwork cooperation selfesteem selfconfidence decision making problem solving of participants; establishes achievable goals and objectives with participants.
  • Provides instruction and monitors youth participants; maintains order during activities/games by counseling youth with behavioral challenges; documents and reports interactions; recommends disciplinary action as needed.
  • Attends staff meetings training and obtains/maintains proper certifications; collaborates with coworkers; accessible by phone or email during shift.
  • Provides a safe environment for youth by checking condition of facilities and equipment used; examines field/playground equipment prior to play for unexpected hazards; provides basic firstaid or contacts emergency services for severe injuries; keeps youth information sheet easily accessible for emergency contact information and/or existing medical conditions information.
  • Reports any problems with youth behavior parent behavior or staff to Supervisor via incident report; reports and documents serious incidents (child abuse sexual abuse etc.) to Supervisor and when necessary involves appropriate authorities.
  • Provides assistance in meal preparation and transportation of participants when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

The Youth Coordinator shall be at least 21 years of age and shall meet both of the following requirements for education and experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience in working with youth.
  • Experience working with youth who have life challenges.
  • Experience in child development elementary education physical education recreation camping or related fields preferred.
  • Willingness to attend trainings on conflict resolution problem solving crisis management and motivational techniques.
  • Familiarity with service area is preferred.
  • Applicants must be able to work independently as well as with a team of individuals.

Physical Requirements:

  • The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand walk balance bend at the waist crouch kneel twist use foot controls and operate a motor vehicle. The employee must frequently lift carry and/or push/pull up to twenty pounds (20 lbs.).
  • The employee is frequently required to sit talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to grasp finger handle or feel objects tools or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close distance and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
  • Works in outdoor weather conditions.

Driving and Vehicle Requirements

  • Valid drivers license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $10000/$300000 bodily injury liability
