Otter Valley is seeking an enthusiastic innovative and collaborative full time high school science teacher to fill a vacancy in theschool year. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will teach courses primarily in the area of life science to include our 2semester Biological Sciences course primarily for 10th grade students an AP Biology course on an every other year basis and other courses as assigned. The successful candidate will also serve as an advisor to a group of students in Grades 912 and participate in a highlycollaborative 712 science departmentAll Otter Valley teachers are expected to:implement standardsaligned units of study and engaging lessonsuse contentspecific pedagogical techniques to engage learnersuse assessment to inform instruction throughout the learning processcreate positive classroom cultures focused on relationships inclusive practices and reciprocal trustscollaborate effectively with colleagues to improve teaching methods and ensure supports are in place for all studentsSpecific responsibilities associated with this position include:Implement units and lessons derived from state standards (NGSS) and department classroom systems/procedures and manage student behavior to ensure an emotionally and physically safe learning environment. Manage the lab space and storage spaces including: maintaining equipment procuring supplies managing inventory establishing and enforcing safety ability to deliver current relevant and adaptable class content with real world a working knowledge of methods materials and techniques used to teach science for Grades 7 12 within the framework of the Next Generation Science Standards. Serve as a member of a collaborative team of middle school grade teachers focused on providing consistent experiences and timely supports for all studentsEducation Training and Experience RequirementsMust be eligible or possess Vermont State Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach Science 7 candidates must apply on to:Michael Ruppel Principal
