Summary of Job Duties:

This is an unpaid internship at the UAMS Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville AR.

The Public Health Intern will support the work of the Associate Provost and Associate Director of Interprofessional Education (IPE) on the Northwest Regional Campus. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain handson experience in academic planning interprofessional collaboration event coordination and public health education. The intern will contribute to meaningful initiatives that enhance faculty engagement student experiences and academic planning across multiple departments and disciplines.

1. Event Coordination and Support 35%

Assist with planning coordination and execution of faculty and student events including logistics scheduling communications and dayof support.

Provide operational and logistical support for the Health Sciences Experience project including preparation of materials and participant coordination.

Support planning and implementation of the Academic Retreat including developing agendas managing timelines and coordinating followup actions.

2. Project and Program Support 25%

Contribute to the development and execution of initiatives led by the Associate Provost/Associate Director of IPE including academic programming interprofessional education efforts and crossdepartmental collaboration.

Conduct research and gather data related to best practices in public health education and interprofessional programming.

Assist with project tracking meeting support (notetaking followups) and status reporting.

3. North Street Clinic Engagement 20%

Actively participate in the North Street Clinic a free clinic for uninsured individuals by observing clinical operations and patient care processes.

Identify areas for operational improvement and assist with process improvement initiatives.

Create strategies that enhance patient connections to available community resources and services.

4. Communications and Document Preparation 15%

Draft and edit communications to students faculty and stakeholders.

Prepare reports presentations flyers and outreach materials related to academic and IPE initiatives.

Assist with organizing shared files and maintaining accurate documentation for ongoing projects.

5. Administrative and Special Projects 5%

Complete special assignments and administrative tasks as needed demonstrating professionalism initiative and attention to detail.

Participate in brainstorming sessions and provide input from a student/public health perspective.


Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Public Health Health Sciences or a related field.

Must be in good academic standing with the college/university.

Strong interest in academic administration healthcare operations public health and/or interprofessional collaboration.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Suite.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional setting.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Willingness to learn and engage in new experiences including clinical observation and community engagement.
