We are actively sourcing a Telecommunications Technician to join our IT Communications team within the wider Digital & Technology (D&T) team. Reporting to the Communications Manager you will be responsible for managing St Vincents telecommunications systems by installing operating and maintaining voice and data communications services.

To be successful in this role you will have proven skills and experience in administration of voice or data infrastructure. You will maintain telecommunications systems by installing operating and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment and maintain structured cabling with thirdparty cabling providers.

This position is Permanent Full Time and will be predominantly based within St Vincents Hospital Melbourne (Fitzroy) while working across our VIC Hospitals and Aged Care facilities when needed. You will also be required to take part in the afterhours oncall roster with overtime benefits to match as part of the dynamic requirements of a 24/7 healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting new and existing telephony services; connections disconnections and relocations
  • Providing timely responses to Service Desk tickets
  • Contributing to specification and design for Health Service redevelopments
  • Ensuring proactive stock control management for Telecommunications hardware including handsets cabling and associated products
  • Auditing of Telecommunications equipment and services
  • Upholding the safety of residents and colleagues by following codes standards and legal regulations

Things that work for us:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role preferably within the Healthcare industry or large and complex organisation
  • Proven experience in administration of voice or data infrastructure
  • Ability to proactively triage and manage priority and business critical incidents and to support on multiple priorities simultaneously and seamlessly while maintaining attention to detail in a high pressure environment
  • Demonstrated organisational skills to work autonomously as well as part of the team showing initiative and generating ideas for continuous improvement and innovation
  • Customer service focused with excellent communication and troubleshooting skills and a great attitude towards supporting and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders alike
