Job Description
Springfield Hospital has an excellent opportunity for a Board Eligible/Board Certified General Surgeon to utilize their skills in an environment that values quality care employee engagement and job satisfaction.
Our mission is to be a place where patients want to receive care and employees want to work.
This is a small rural hospital where the General Surgeon will be primarily on solo coverage. The goal is to have 2 fulltime GS with Locums) Searching for an experienced (at least 1 year of General Surgery work experience is required at least 5 years of General Surgery work experience is preferred).
Facility does not have a robot on site
Busy ER: 18000 visits/year
Trauma is rare. No multitrauma will stay to Springfield. General Surgeon can expect mostly bread and butter cases gall bladders hernias appendix bowels Upper and lower GI Endoscopy (about 100 per month)The General surgeons complete their own Endoscopy we do not have a Gastroenterologist.
Sees ages 16. No peds as there is no pediatrician onsite.
Emergency Department is run by MDs and Midlevels always have an MD on site
Have contracted service for Anesthesia which is made up of CRNAs.
No ICU which limits General Surgery cases.
4 day work week MTh; if theyre working the weekend call then off Thursday and work Fri Sat Sun (have flexibility with day off). 10 days of call/month which will include one weekend. If they take additional call (over 10) reimbursement is $1500.
Call is manageable and will fluctuate.
Basic GS Schedule:
Mondays OR
Tuesdays GIEndo
Wednesdays OR or GIEndo or Clinic
Thursdays Clinic
Support staff: Medical Assistant in clinic RN in OR and GIEndo no APP support
Takes about 90 days to get a VT license for an MD; less time for DO will consider either but prefers a quick start
Credentialing takes about 30 days can get started without a license
1hour response time to hospital when on call and 15mins response to a page is required. Must already live in or relocate within this radius.
Not accepting visa candidates
Not accepting brand new graduates must have a minimum of 1 year General Surgery employment experience (not including training)
Not accepting candidates who have lapsed BC and need to obtain again
Compensation and Benefits: Benefits to eligible employees include:
wRVU
Sign on bonus negotiable (amount to be discussed at interview)
Relocation reimbursement if applicable approximately $1020K depending on the distance of the move
Oncall days worked over required 10/month compensated at $1500/day
