Under the supervision of a producer the person in the role of Media Review Reporter is responsible for reviewing various sources of information each morning to extract content intended for multiple platforms. This content is then adapted to feed both regional programs in Ottawa and national productions. The reporter is also expected to research original story ideas plan field coverage and conduct interviews with key stakeholders. This content may also be repurposed across other platforms.
The ideal candidate must have excellent analytical skills to place gathered information in context and provide the audience with an informed perspective. A strong grasp of regional national and international issues is essential along with solid knowledge of digital media to which they may also contribute.
In accordance with RadioCanadas journalistic standards and practices the person in this role must demonstrate creativity and rigor in order to properly inform our audiences.
This is a permanent fulltime position with early morning shifts.
You have:
A university degree or equivalent
Three (3) years of experience including in broadcasting or a related field directly tied to the area of assignment
Strong writing skills and an interest in multiplatform media production
Comfort onair with the ability to tell and simplify stories live
Ability to select relevant audiencefocused stories that reflect topics being discussed in the broader public
Ability to respond quickly to breaking news
Knowledge of events and issues in the Outaouais region and Eastern Ontario as well as national and international affairs
Excellent written comprehension in English
A sense of innovation and willingness to take risks
Strong teamwork skills
Commitment to reflecting the community and diversity
