Opportunities to Contribute
Flow Cytometry Core Facility: Manages the flow cytometry core facility assisting with daily operations including instrument maintenance troubleshooting ordering lab supplies biosafety compliance and scheduling and billing users in iLab. Provides analytical flow cytometry and cell sorting services to facility users assisting with experimental design and data interpretation as needed. Develops immuneoncology assays for collaborators projects in our highthroughput flow cytometry core facility funded by the CPRIT grant. Works in conjunction with Facilities and Center Labs on new projects and pending work orders to ensure minimal downtime.
Data Analysis and Planning: Plans and directs multiple phases of research projects providing research expertise. Compiles analyzes interprets and reviews highly complex data and metadata. Collects samples and measurements for experiments making and recording observations and scientific measurements. Implements audits and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials computing projections. Conducts tests or experiments requiring creativity foresight and judgment performing complex analysis and examinations. Audits protocols.
Research Publications: Utilizes summarized results in scientific and clienteleoriented publications. Prepares and writes proposals to funding agencies and maintains financial accounts related to research projects.
Training: Trains undergraduate and graduate students as well as other laboratory technical or field staff involved in research. Develops and maintains training materials for external users.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in biology or relevant field
Twelve years of related experience in Flow Cytometry
A wellqualified candidate will also possess
Bachelorsin a sciencerelated field and at least 1215 years of experience in a research laboratory environment where advanced techniques in molecular and cellular biology flow cytometry and biochemistry were used
More than 5years experience with flow cytometry assay design data acquisition and data analysis
Knowledge to use FlowJo analysis software Microsoft Excel Power Point and Word software
Excellent verbal written presentation and analytical skills
Attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with flow core users
Must be able to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team
Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment
Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software
What You Need to Know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hires education and experience.
Schedule: May have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours. May travel as required.
