A Brief Overview
Utilizes effective use of available material resources provide timely highquality Histopathology services and address laboratory related complaints and problem resolution under the direction of leadership.
What you will do
- Performs MOHS histology techniques including but not limited to: tissue freezing embedding cutting staining cover slipping and labeling.
- Confirms specimen orientation to make MOHS map and divides and colorcodes specimens.
- Responsible for assuring the technical aspects of the Histology/MOHS/Clinical Laboratory section of the clinic. Performs gross examination of tissue specimens. Performs miscellaneous tasks including but not limited to: slide filing accessioning specimens into computer system preparing reagents or solutions and laboratory equipment maintenance. Performs special histology and/or cytology specimen processing procedures including Immunohisto chemical staining and other special stains.
- Directs quality assurance CLIA and safety compliance and continuous quality improvement projects and maintains current laboratory procedural and equipment protocol. Participation in Laboratory Management and CLIA related meetings.
- Coordinates and communicates with Dermatopathologists Dermatologists and Clinic Managers regarding laboratory issues.
- Efficiently orders supplies needed for the lab.
Essential Qualifications

Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Associates Transcript showing 12 semester (18 quarter hours) of chemistry and biology (must include credit hours in both) or
- Some College Transcript showing 60 semester (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from an accredited college or university
- Histotechnician (HT) American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 11/2 Yrs
Preferred Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- 13 years full time experience in a histopathology (clinical veterinary industry or research) laboratory from an accredited laboratory within the last five years
