The Fiduciary Regulatory Risk Sr. Consultant is a key member of the second line of defense Global Fiduciary Risk Management team which is responsible for the identification of and advising on fiduciary risk and regulatory compliance issues as well as oversight of fiduciary risk management and fiduciary compliance programs in all Business Units (Wealth Management Asset Management and Asset Servicing) at Northern Trust.

Responsibilities of this role include ongoing oversight and reporting on fiduciary regulatory obligations and changes understanding and interpreting regulatory requirements and monitoring policy drafting training and other duties as assigned. This role will also require strong stakeholder management and the ability to consult with and advise senior management on an independent basis.

Key Responsibilities of the Role include:

  • Advise and collaborate with partners in Risk Compliance Control Teams Legal and Business Units regionally and globally to identify fiduciary regulatory requirements and risks and monitor compliance with standards and regulations
  • Advise business partners including senior management on Risk & Compliance programs and applicable fiduciary laws regulations rules and standards including keeping them informed of developments or changes that may affect their area
  • Advise and participate in the establishment of written guidance on the appropriate implementation of fiduciaryCompliance programs and laws regulations rules and standards through policies and procedures and other documents
  • Evaluate existing and proposed regulatory requirements and expectations against existing processes and controls to identify and escalate potential gaps or regulatory risks including providing recommendations on first line of defense procedural changes
  • Keep abreast of industry trends regulatory changes and emerging risks to proactively identify potential threats and opportunities and evolve the fiduciary regulatory risk management framework to align with changing business and regulatory practices
  • Communicate evaluate and advise on the implementation of regulatory changes where required
  • Contribute to the production and review of appropriate Fiduciary Regulatory Risk Management metrics ensuring their accuracy and relevance in supporting the Fiduciary Risk Management strategy
  • Participate in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned to support the Global Fiduciary Risk Management team and the Risk Management organization

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Indepth knowledge of applicable fiduciary duties laws and regulations acquired through formal education and work experience is required
  • Strong industry knowledge/background coupled with risk legal audit or compliance experience
  • Strong organizational skills a collaborative approach to work with strong interpersonal skills
  • Previous relevant experience in a regulatory or compliance environment preferred
  • Ability to create enhance and maintain risk assessments for fiduciary activities
  • Strong analytical skills ability to interpret and present complex data
  • Ability to identify problems develop and communicate solutions
  • Ability to manage the detail and drive execution while maintaining a strategic view
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to interact and manage expectations with senior level audiences stakeholders and management
  • A strong and proven ability to analyze break down and explain complex issues in nontechnical language
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change with a positive attitude and vision to continually enhance / strengthen current status quo
  • Ability to operate effectively as part of a global team facilitating connectivity of the business and risk with regional and global stakeholders
  • Project management skills preferred

Salary Range:

$USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay.
