Job Description

Job Summary: Perform a variety of duties in and around the building of the hospital complex to assist the tradesmen in completing their tasks.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Assists with repairing and replacing drains fixtures rodding cleaning etc. as assigned.
  2. Administers to general repairs i.e. plunging toilets and drains greases fan motors.
  3. Assists with the installation and repair of such items as doors screens etc. as needed.
  4. Completes preventative maintenance task on time.
  5. Works independently.
  6. Communicates issues to supervisor.
  7. Clean work and shop areas daily.
  8. Provides input on improving processes.
  9. Assists coworkers with projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or GED required. Vocational or Technical training preferred.
  2. Plumbing Journeyman license required.
  3. 13 years related work experience required in Minimum 2 years of plumbing experience required.
  4. Valid drivers license and good driving record
  5. Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within webbased applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Medical gas certified ASSE 6040 and ASSE 6020.
  2. Experience and/or formal training in a mechanical field.

  1. Decision Making: Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation. May make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity and importance.
  2. Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are varied requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using direct observation knowledge and skills based on general precedents.
  3. Independence of Action: Ability to follow precedents and procedures. May set priorities and organize work within general guidelines. Seeks assistance when confronted with difficult and/or unpredictable situations. Work progress is monitored by supervisor/manager.
  4. Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.
  5. Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff patients families and external customers.
  6. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts practices procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
  7. Team Work: Ability to interact respectfully with other employees professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas identify issues obtain information or deliver services.
  8. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients visitors staff and external customers in a professional serviceoriented respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job:
Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force frequently. Work is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing and/or moving.
