As one of the fastestgrowing academic health centers in the nation Texas A&M Health encompasses five colleges and numerous centers and institutes working together to improve health through transformative education innovative research and teambased health care delivery.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Provides direct patient care evaluations and treatment in accordance with Professional Nursing Standards maintaining the highest standards of nursing practice.

  • Participates in reflective practice and provides preventative education to patients as needed.

  • Uses the health care team approach to triage patients conduct physical assessments administer medication and therapy and evaluate and report patient progress.

  • Drives to schools and homes of patients participating in the clinic to provide vital services in a University vehicle.

  • Operates and maintains the clinic including inventory and requisition of medical supplies medications and equipment ensuring sterilization of instruments/supplies.

  • Maintains and monitors patient records assesses health care needs visits monitors tracks and reports patient data and provides patient education.

  • Serves as a key member of the schoolbased Mobile Clinic team participating in community coalitions and program team meetings.

  • Promotes the Texas A&M program through marketing and outreach efforts at local and regional levels.

  • Completes required trainings and participates in professional development.

  • Fills in for others and performs additional duties as assigned to assist team members.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • One year directly related experience serving as a family nurse practitioner

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Requires an active license as a Registered Nurse and as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas with prescriptive authority and national board certification as a family nurse practitioner

A wellqualified candidate will also possess

  • At least five years of clinical nursing experience is required

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certificate

  • Experience with computer systems required including web based applications and electronic health records some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint or Access

  • Experience in health professions education is preferred

  • Familiarity with electronic health records

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

  • Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and techniques

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical problemsolving and decisionmaking skills

  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system

What You Need to Know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hires education and experience.

Location/Schedule: Located in East Texas this is a part time PRN position and hours are varied depending on the need and employee availability.

Other: Depending upon the nature of your position you may be required to receive immunizations (excluding COVID and Flu).
