As one of the fastestgrowing academic health centers in the nation Texas A&M Health encompasses five colleges and numerous centers and institutes working together to improve health through transformative education innovative research and teambased health care delivery.
Opportunities to Contribute
Provides direct patient care evaluations and treatment in accordance with Professional Nursing Standards maintaining the highest standards of nursing practice.
Participates in reflective practice and provides preventative education to patients as needed.
Uses the health care team approach to triage patients conduct physical assessments administer medication and therapy and evaluate and report patient progress.
Drives to schools and homes of patients participating in the clinic to provide vital services in a University vehicle.
Operates and maintains the clinic including inventory and requisition of medical supplies medications and equipment ensuring sterilization of instruments/supplies.
Maintains and monitors patient records assesses health care needs visits monitors tracks and reports patient data and provides patient education.
Serves as a key member of the schoolbased Mobile Clinic team participating in community coalitions and program team meetings.
Promotes the Texas A&M program through marketing and outreach efforts at local and regional levels.
Completes required trainings and participates in professional development.
Fills in for others and performs additional duties as assigned to assist team members.
Minimum Qualifications
Master of Science degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience
One year directly related experience serving as a family nurse practitioner
Required Licenses and Certifications
Requires an active license as a Registered Nurse and as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas with prescriptive authority and national board certification as a family nurse practitioner
A wellqualified candidate will also possess
At least five years of clinical nursing experience is required
American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certificate
Experience with computer systems required including web based applications and electronic health records some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint or Access
Experience in health professions education is preferred
Familiarity with electronic health records
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and techniques
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
What You Need to Know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hires education and experience.
Location/Schedule: Located in East Texas this is a part time PRN position and hours are varied depending on the need and employee availability.
Other: Depending upon the nature of your position you may be required to receive immunizations (excluding COVID and Flu).
