Job Description
Solar Technician is responsible for installing maintaining and troubleshooting solar energy systems including photovoltaic (PV) panels and solar thermal systems. They work on residential commercial and industrial properties to help reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation:
Assembling and installing solar panels support structures and other components on roofs or other structures.
System Configuration:
Configuring PV systems based on site conditions and customer needs connecting panels to the power grid and ensuring compliance with building standards and codes.
Electrical Work:
Inspecting electrical installations wiring and grounding and making necessary adjustments.
Maintenance and Repair:
Performing routine maintenance troubleshooting issues and making repairs to solar energy systems.
Testing and Commissioning:
Activating and testing PV systems to ensure they are functioning optimally.
Documentation:
Maintaining records of installations maintenance and repairs.
Customer Interaction:
Providing guidance and support to customers regarding their solar energy systems.
Safety:
Adhering to strict safety guidelines when working on solar installations.
Continuous Learning:
Staying uptodate on new technologies and best practices in the solar industry.
Skills and Qualifications:
Technical skills: Knowledge of electricity wiring and construction principles.
Problemsolving skills: Ability to identify and resolve technical issues with solar energy systems.
Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Physical stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks on rooftops and in various weather conditions.
Safety awareness: Understanding and following safety protocols.
Commitment to environmental sustainability: Interest in renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions.
Types of Solar Technicians:
Solar Photovoltaic Installer: Focuses on installing PV panels and related equipment.
